one of the worst....
that had to be one of the worst fights between two champions, i actually fell asleep on it, and woke up when crazy Emmanuel was screaming on Wlad begging him to knock Sultan out. I guess Manny was as frustrated as everyone who paid money to go to MSG to watch that fight. I am so so very happy that thsi fight wasn't made a PPV, i think i would have thrown something at my 42in screen.....Comment

Wladimir has provided fans of the heavyweight division with KO after KO after KO over the last few years. Any fan that thinks it's okay to whine about a fight that didnt end in a KO needs strap on gloves and get in the ring with Sultan Ibragimov and try to do better, or grow up and shut up.
Good post....Comment

The fight wasnt as bad people made it out to be, at least not in the later rounds when Wladimir opened up a bit. But still pretty boring overall, and I much like most is disappointed that there wasnt a KO because there shouldve been. Wladimir seemed concerned about the counter left, but even when he missed with straight rights, Sultan clearly couldnt make him pay as he was usually out of position to throw anything hard. Sultan was open and was very easy to hit. Wladimir pretty much hit him at will, but unfortunately he was WILLING to throw much. Im afraid that a fight with Chagaev might look very similar.
And furthermore, its unfair to completely blame Wladimir for the boring fight. Sultan didnt do a whole lot either.Last edited by Derranged; 02-24-2008, 11:44 AM.Comment

This heavyweight dance last night was one of the worst heavyweight fights I've ever seen. Absolutely dreadful. Klitschko could've had him out of there in the first round had he thrown the right hand at least once or twice for God's sake. Just dreadful...
I guess he and Manny decided that their fight game plan would be "play it safe", to the bore of myself and millions of others I'm sure. Klit is obviously still tramatized by the beat-down he received from Corrie Sanders(another southpaw) that he didn't want to make any mistakes in last nights fight considering what was on the line.
Honestly though, it's good to finally see a unified champion that fits the role of a Heavvyweight champion. Wlad has all the tools(besides the china) to hold on to the title for a minute...I can't foresee anyone in the division giving him too much of a problem. Another thing too, I really think at some point, the boxing powers that be need to consider a Super Heavyweight division because all of these giants fighting these little men looks ridiculous. Sultan looked like a scared 14 year old get smacked around by his father last night.Comment

.....Not bad stuff. I particularly agree with the paragraph below. Wlady only needed to turn up the gas a bit to really explode on the scene in this country. It was right there in front of him. He couldn't quite pull the trigger. Sultan took some huge flush shots that most guys wouldn't have stood up to. He better be very very spectacular in his next fight.
This fight got more mainstream press ink than any Heavyweight fight in the last couple of years. Klitschko got a seat on Conan O’Brien and Fox News and the house was packed at Madison Square Garden. This was a golden, and lost, opportunity to stamp himself in the public consciousness. Ibragimov appeared no more dangerous than Klitschko knockout victims Calvin Brock in November 2006 or Ray Austin last year; if he had fought as if he believed that, Klitschko would have done himself and the sport a service.Comment
