Yeah, it might be something to do with the fact that his hand was in several more pieces than it should have been, but I'm no doctor, so my opinion that it is unwise to punch people with a broken hand is not entirely medically accurate, but I should hope that common sense depicts it as so.

What's the big deal with fighting in america anyway? I agree there's no down side of it and Joe should willing to be able to come over here, but there really isn't that big of a deal unless you want a lot more exposure.

As for the 2002 thing, I honestly believe that was a huge miscommunication on that lawyers part. Though even if he had ducked Joe, then why would he want to face him when he's 43 years old and not in his prime?

I'm glad it's taking place now anyway, so it doesn't matter.

        edit:
what fights did Joe pull out of?
I think him and glen johnson were supposed to fight a couple of times, but both of them kept getting injured.

I think Hops has better skills, even now as an 43 year old. This just shows how great Hopkins is.And hes an great technican but i guess i dont need to tell you that.

            .
Not only exposure but more money. The most important thing however is your level of greatness. If you look at the all time great lists and historians talking about fighters from all era's, how many do they mention that only fought in Europe?

Are Darius M. , Henry Maske, Sven Ottke gonna be mentioned among the all time greats or just europe's best? And all these guys had multiple title defenses in their career.

He might have ths kills but he wont be able to use them under the kind of pressure Joe is going to apply. All these people keep talking about rough house tactics, I wouldnt be suprised to see Calzaghe turn it into a dirtier fight than Hops, and Hops wont like it one bit.

He's also going to be stronger than ever, when you get older you can't increase speed but you can increase strength... he'll hurt Calzaghe with every punch and beat him down gradually until he folds.
Calzaghe has great skillz also, but he also benefits from his southpaw stance cause most fighters have some problems with it. Hopkins has no problems with it and he has a great team behind him. Shillstone, the best strenght and conditioning coach and nutritionist, Freddie Roach one of the best trainers ect. For this time he has the best people behind him. Against Winky he just had Roach. When he fought Tarver he had Shilstoen and looked better than in years, now he has em all together, he will have a great camp and h will suprise the people once again.
And remember, Calzaghe is also no spring chciken anymore.

                  Definietly not Sven ottke!!

and Hops wont like it one bit.
If hopkins could suck it up for the Echols fight, I'm pretty sure that he'd be able to handle Joe. I also think that Bernard' dirtyness will get to Joe too as Sakio Bika was able to. (That might have just been because Joe was unprepared though).

Calzaghe does get hit with straight right hands, this is the only concern.

I'm not as confident a I once was, 80% Calzaghe wins. 20% says Hops lands enough significant right hands so they can hand it to him.

The 'workrate' won't be a factor, is a ridiculous assertion. Of course it is, unless Hops lands more punches than Calzaghe whilst throwing a third of the amount of punches........unlikely.
