Pavlik doesnt have a prayer against Calzaghe

It became quite clear on Saturday that Pavliks power didnt hold up too well at 166. Sure Taylor was a little more cautious, but he still got rocked once or twice, at middle Pavlik would have put him away with those shots. It is now as clear as night and day that Pavlik does not punch as hard as Kessler, as I have seen claimed by a few idiots on more than one occasion. Kessler is a better boxer, he punches harder and he has a better chin. Pavlik against Calzaghe would be one of the most one sided fights you are ever going to see, possibly even eclipsing Joes domination of the once feared Jeff Lacy.

    It would be pretty comfortable.

I don't think Pavlik has one punch KO power either.

I do think the guy who beat's Joe will be a puncher. Just some guy who pins his toes to floor and lets fly. Probably doesn't exist. Maybe it could be Froch!!...lol.

I dunno who that guy is. I don't think a guy out there outboxes Joe to a decision. Calzaghe is just too clever at this stage.

This will be a very good fight for the 6 or so rounds it lasts. Kessler has a granite chin and very good power at 168, and Pavlik has an average chin at the best of times, and also carried very little power on his short trip up to 166, at 168 he will be pitiful.

I think that Kessler would rather dominate Pavlik in honesty. With that said, I'd like to see it cos I dont see anyone at his current weight touching Pavlik for a while.

There are a few slick boxers around who could give Pavlik some trouble though. Problem is, the slick boxers who could beat him over 12 rounds dont have the chin to stand up to his punches for 12 rounds, and anyone who punches hard enough to put him away isnt slick enough to catch him. I agree with you, at middle he will reign for a while.

I doubt that he'll stay at Middleweight though. He must be killing himself to keep that little weight on a naturally heavy frame.

No Disrespect, but I believe your opinion on this is extremely bias based on your likings for Calzaghe. Pavlik wasn't fighting a bum last week & how can you say Pavlik has a not great chin. Did you see the Miranda fight? I will agree Kessler is a better boxer, but I will not agree with you that Kessler has more power then Pavlik. They each posses a different type of power. Plus Pavlik's KO ratio is one of the best. Just cause Pav WON a decision over Taylor and didn't knock him out, doesn't make him weak now. I think ur logic is a lil off.

Pavlik keeps a high output of relatively strong power punches. While none really put you away by themsevles they build up on you and none are just being thrown to throw, they're all tough. Pavlik is still improving and if you don't think Jack Leow plans on increasing the arsenal of punches then your crazy. Everyone should remember the punch that gave Taylor the most trouble was a body shot. not a jab then straight right to the face. So he has multiple ways to hurt you. With that said I think Calzaghe would be a problem right now, but given a little time and atleast one fight at SMW to tune up to a new weight I think he will be a solid competitor.
