The world is a big place now, all them champions don't have time to travel all over to fight all these other guys. That's the reason we have 250 world champions, one for each country.

      Thought not.

Back in the day, Frazier only had to make weight (which was a struggle, cause he had lost too much of it) to win the gold.

You know i had some idiot on here tell me fighters are better conditioned these days because of the knowlege on diets!

Imagine what state all the HW champions would be in if they fought in the Thrilla in Minilla? or the 15th round of Ali Frazier I? at the pace and punishment they took.

Athletes today have the opportunity to become better conditioned than the fighters of yesteryear.
But like I said, pride, glory and honour is lost and can't be found.
The more you have to lose, the harder you will fight.
Most fighters today have nothing to lose.
Back in the day, pride and honour was everything.

The mental **** is the most important thing in boxing. Today we are weaker mentally. Not just fighters, in general.

They trained for hard punishing fights as they knew they would give each other hell.

Now they know it will be a plod.

Just imagine Henry Armstrong or Joe frazier with there work ethic combined with the science and suppliments around today?

Might as well make it a 'did you know?' or 'great accomplishments' thread.

Henry Armstrong beat 10 hall of famers (possibly more if some are inducted).

Armstrong won 3 world titles (featherweight, lightweight, welterweight) and defended the lightweight and welterweight titles at the same time.

Armstrong fought for a version of the middleweight title but had to settle for a draw.

Armstrong defended his welterweight title 19 times.

Mac Foster had a record of 30 wins, 30 KO's and 6 losses.

Earnie Shavers had 39 wins, 39 KO's and 2 losses before he was first taken the distance in a win.

**** me, that would've been awesome!
Training every day like someone would kill you, that's the way of the oldtimers!

Rocky Marciano is the hero. He would train so hard that people had to carry him to the weightroom, so he could lift some weights
                    Bloody awesome.

So you consider Armstrong to be tougher than Money?
