of course he is.
None of the other names stuck in the division.
And to the guy Rod Barker who said Calzaghe was Warren's cash cow.........hardly. Until recently Joe wasn't exactly earning fortunes for Frank. He was shy and reluctant to do any kind of publicity so he was always low key and not much of a draw. As a result he was a bit untouchable, the Germans would not touch him so he couldn't unify. Hopkins rightly ascertained he wasn't worth the risk, and he missed the era of Benn and Collins. His career was endanger of just flaking off.
Jeff Lacy ****ed up, and Joe took advantage. At that point he was thinking about giving it up. That catapulted him, made his name stateside. Joe now talks a bit of smack because it's getting him fights now.

He is the best SMW ever, he isn't the best fighter to ever grace the division though but he has accomplished the most at SMW and NOONE can take that away from him.

First the Slapfans beg for mercy, saying "oh come on, he is very close isn't he?"
Then after a while, the British fans have a huge sausage fest about Slapslappy together because now they'll say Calslappy is better than Ali and SRR.

You are completely hate-filled.
For a boxer I'd say he is one of the most amiable personalities out there, why you have such disdain for someone like him and not someone like James "most dilluded person in the world" Toney is beyond me.
Roy Jones was an all-time great. And yes I do concede if he'd stayed in SMW division. Maybe Calzaghe wouldn't have owned a belt in his life. This says more about how great RJJ was NOT about how poor Calz would have been.
Toney however I do not agree with....throughout his record he comes to a big fight and loses. Calzaghe comes to a big fight and completely dominates he steps up to the occasion....that kind of mentality I think would have seen him give RJJ a decent fight at the peak of his career.

I respect Joe because hes a respectful and no nonsense guy and fighter.
He new Kessler was the bigger hitter, the same with Lacy. But he was prepared to take big shots and grind out wins. The guy is a fantastic boxer and those who hate him. There can be no reason why.

Journalist: Joe, are you worried about Hopkins' style, because he will be quite a new challenge?
Slapper: No i'm not, i'm just gonna work hard and give my best to win..you know i've been unbeaten for over 10 years, champion for many years, Beaten Kessler, unbeaten contender. Lacy, unbeaten and great win. I'm great..what can I say i'm great.
Journalist: So Joe, what fights do you still see ahead of you?
Slapper: After I beat Hopkins, i'm gonna continue to go for the big names. You know i've been unbeaten for many many years. i'm planning on retiring undefeated. Unbeaten, undefeated. I got rid of Lacy, kessler, i'm doing something with my legacy. I'm great. What can I say, i'm great.

Then there's his fans that highly overrate him while dissrespecting other fighters and countries.
