Now, as far as Calzaghe, Joe Cal's fighting style is a nightmare for anyone that fights at a specific pace. Joe reminds me of a mongoose fight a cobra, he's relentless and comes from different angles.

He may not have the power to put Dawson down due to hand injuries he's suffered through his career, but he would definitely present a new puzzle for Chad to solve. Chad is great at examine the situation at hand, great at studying his opponent through out the fight and exposing a small area of weakness and turning into a major problem.

    lol. Good post.

Joe wins this now. Experience means so much in boxing. In a few years time Chad gets him, but Joe should be away in sunset by then.

Hops and another opponent and I bet thats all she wrote for Joe, unless the money gets really good.

I'm just curious where people got the information that Dawson would be able to break through Hopkins's freeze the pace style.

No one has really been able to do it before.

Hopkins all but gave away rounds against Taylor, and when he fought, he won those rounds.

Wright didn't get coerced into a brawl, he tried to fight his technical style, and Hopkins ****** him into it.

Now if Wright couldn't figure out how to not get into a brawl after 55 fights of pro ring experience, how the **** is Dawson going to have the know-how to not get ****** into the Hopkins deep freeze?

Wink's defense dictates his offense. Wink isnt much of a mover when he does the shell which is almost the whole time. If you're able to get passed his jab, you can get as close as you want to Wink to be able to smother and hit. It's hard to be agile and quick on your feet when you're doing the turtle.

if you look at vintage hop videos, you'll see that Dawson's style doesn't differ much from classic Hop. Dawson establishes space consistently. For ever step you take backwards, he takes an equal step forward. For ever step you take forward, he takes a step backward. We also gotta remember that Wink wasnt at his best weight and he's a counter puncher. He waits for his opponents to make a mistake to capitalize. That's money for BHop, who at this point in his career, can't afford to make a mistake and wont output like he used to.

Dawson isnt a brawler, he's a boxer who brawls when his opponent is weak.

I just don't know how everyone writes B-Hop off.

Because even though you are saying that Dawson can do it, no one has shown that they can up to this point.

Tarver wasn't able to get around it, and whatever personal problems he had detracts from that, but he got ****** into Hopkins's plan.

Taylor was a distance fighter for the most part when he fought Hopkins, and when Hopkins started trying to win rounds, he won them easily, because Taylor couldn't figure out what to do to counter it.

I just don't see Dawson rolling over Hopkins like everyone is predicting.

Whether he wins or not is up for debate, but I can't believe that everyone is writing Hopkins off in any future fight. It is crazy to me because his style really is something that doesn't require him to be young, so he can still execute it quite effectively.

I'm also not prepared to say that either...

While Dawson lacks experience, all that tells us is that we can't be sure what he is capable of... he may be capable of wiping Calzaghe out, we don't know (although I wouldn't bet on it).

Roy Jones Jr. proved against James Toney that experience isn't the be-all end-all of boxing.

Floyd SR gives his opinion on Chad Dawson:

When Chad was being trained by Mayweather

FLOYD SR: If you think Chad was amazing then, then he’s gonna be super amazing now! Listen, Chad’s the first left handed fighter I ever trained. As great and as bad as I am, he’s the first lefty I trained and made a world champion and guess what? You know I’m bad, right? Chad is definitely going to the next level. I already got the feel for training a lefty and I’m gonna do better now. You can’t let me get no better than I already am and anytime you’ve got that, then it’s pressure on the next man. I turn everything to fire.
FLOYD SR: I like that Chad is calm, cool, and collected. He’s real quiet. You know when we first got together we didn’t get along. He didn’t like what I was doing and I didn’t like what he was doing. But we worked it out and look what happened? Chad is person that doesn’t talk much. Listen, don’t get me wrong. I’m the kind of guy that boasts and brags but I can back it up. People say I’m arrogant. I call it confident. You saw what happened with Steve. You know what that’s all about. How can I not be the best trainer in the world when my son is pound for pound number one? I made him what he is. Anybody else who trained my son is “ Johnny come lately” because I already trained my son.
This is what he thinks about Dawson now: http://www.fighthype.com/pages/content841.html

i dont think he would roll over hopkins easily. it would be a hard fight for both but i give dawson the edge just from what i've seen thus far in his career and hopkins last 2 fights. can i not believe blindly in a fighter like so many posters do on this site Dweins? Will you deny me that right?
