Kelly Pavlik's Chin

Cotto doesn't have to take punches from guys who could be light heavyweights (Miranda, Taylor).


Pavlik has a good chin, his style is to come forward and take punishment because no matter how great your defense is, when you come forward you will have to take some shots to get close.
Even a prime Tyson had to take punches to get inside.

Pavlik has underrated defense similar to Ken Norton's crab defense but he is still quite inexperienced and drops his hands at times.


Pushing back a puncher like Miranda takes some heart and an above average ability to take punches.
Pavlik didn't fold after getting hit hard by Taylor either but followed his gameplan (like Cotto against Torres).

The question is how long can he last with this kind of style? I think Pavlik will be done by his early 30's.

Great chin, most fighters wouldn't be able to take the amount of punishment he takes.

His chin is very good.
He gets knocked down but also gets up to knock you out cold.

he got hit behind the ear vs taylor the first time, but i think that was a excuse, but any body can get chinned if they look chinny they might chinned

Pavlik has a good chin thats what makes him so hard to beat IMO he can take it and dish it out ,only a fool would stand infront of him and try and outgut him the guy hits to hard & just keeps coming

if u are gonna beat pavlik id avise u not to get into to many exchanges with him ,stay out of range use the jab and lots of movement and keep turning him so he cant set himself for the big shots etc

Taylor has the ability to do this but not the fitness ,that why he WILL LOSE

I think Taylor's chin is better and Miranda's chin is better but they don;t hit as hard as Pavlik that's why they got destroyed.

I think miranda, was drained in that fight and got hit way to much by a hard hitter, that said, the same happend to taylor.
