Hopkins is having a complete mental breakdown

Nah I got over that one.
I kind of like Hopkins, he seems a decent human being at bottom.
But there are some issues here:
1. I know he didn't grow up a "thug," because I come from the same city he does, I know his neighborhood, which is by no means a ******, and all the kids I grew up with went to Graterford too, so I know better than other people here how bull**** his whole wannabe gangsta persona is.
2. He's simply overrated as a boxer. He lost twice to Jermain Taylor. Those fights were close, but he lost them, which is pretty sad. taylor would have been beaten senseless by Calzaghe.
3. The "whiteboy" comment was made after he walked away shamed and angry, because he saw how Joe doesn't take him seriously since the Taylor losses. He's a prideful man, and those losses bumped him from great fighter to good one, Joe knows that and Hopkins saw that Joe knows it.
4. He's not dealing well with being vastly inferior to a foreign, white, undefeated legend. It's killing his ego, what's left of it.
first off i know you are not 40 years old on no damn discussion board
so that elminates what you would know about germantown back in the 60's and 70's
do you really know what thug really is? (do not be fulled by no damn rap song)
second i don't remember him saying he was a thug just merely a bad person when he was younger
do get it twisted i lived in germantown/ richard allen/ and mt. airy
you better off saying you don't like him and leave at thatComment

Lots of people go to prison; it's no distinction. I'm not scared of someone because they served time. That's ridiculous. Most people I know apart from at my work have done hard time. And it didn't make them scary or tough or anything.
That's all I meant. My point is directed at these kids who think "he went to prison, that's going to scare Joe." They obviously don't know much and watch too many rap videos.Comment

i've been to prison too the thing is that is the distinction is that you look at things different as in people and how you do things
you kind get this feel like you've been thru hell so i survive anything thrown at me.
i got it times 2 because cause i was in the military and at war
i hope that explain it well enoughComment

Ok thanks for the clarification & I agree with you. But being locked up shaped Hopkins to be the person he is today. Being locked up with hardened criminals would no doubt change most peoples perspective on life & society. But to say you know Hopkins neighborhood & the jail he went to is when he's got at leat 10 years on you is stretching it. I don't know much about Philly but from what I've read about his old area it wasn't the safest places to grow up at.Lots of people go to prison; it's no distinction. Man B-Hop is fine! He is not going crazy..he always does and says things that NOONE would say. Mentally..he is PREPARED, TRUST ME! Joe C. is not making him grow crazy on anything. I like B-Hop in this fight and I might be in the minority on this issue, but I just DON'T see Joe C. blowing B-Hop out like everyone else is saying!
April can't come soon enough!!!!Comment

Eubank, Lacy (at the time and Kessler are serious.
Even a 33yo Eubank and Kessler are far better than anyone he could be matched with after Hopkins, Jones id done and Calzaghe would brutalise Pavlik.Comment
