Yes he was, but nothing dirty like Hatton does. Floyd was more so clinching to tie him up and not let Hatton fire back. However this was more at the begining and Floyd didn't really do it towards the middle rounds and late rounds.

Hatton likes to get inside and rough you up. Floyd wasn't really doing that.

I fully understand what you're saying about Hatton getting inside and trying to rough you up. And I don't think under any circumstances, with any other ref/ring size/gloves/etc that the eventual outcome would have been any different.
