Try and get laid off of my current win.. tell em i got a belt.. Then call out every big name i thought wouldn't or is too tied up to fight me. At which point i'd claim to be avoided. Then i would try and take on the biggest guy available other then Cotto Mayweather. ie winner of Kermit/Margarito or Shane.

rest his mind for a couple of months with light routines and see what comes-up, he should make a title defense first before he gets into a fight with margarito and loses his wbo title

I think many of us would agree that Paul Williams was the weakest of the welterweight champions. I liked the guy and yet admitted he had done less than the other major belt-holders and was unproven. Margarito before him was considered a flawed, unskilled brawler and being beat by the inexperienced Williams helped to reinforce that for most. Point? That Carlos Quintana has inherited the weakest link in the division.

What does he do to solidify the legitimacy of his title? Well, in my eyes he needs to start by holding on to it for awhile. I hate to suggest a champion at any weight class should fight chumps but who really thinks this guy can beat Cintron, Cotto, Mayweather or even a Mosley? I mean really.

He needs to take a solid fight that won't pose too much danger before he jumps right back into the mix with top contenders. I wouldn't suggest Quintana fight another champion yet- for his sake- or even a top contender like Berto. Take an under card defense against someone like....a Baldomir. A name that people have heard, even if he isn't much of a threat.

He should capitalize and take a fight with Mosely. That's the biggest name out there who he could actually contend with (I'd probably pick Shane to win though), so that would be his best bet in terms of risk/reward. Even if he loses, he does so to a big time star and he'll still have made a bigger name for himself. Zab Judah doesn't come close to holding the same weight as Shane. He's gotten all the chances he deserves to get.

Take whatever optional defense pays him the most money. Why take a chance on dropping the title for less than top dollar? Quintana should make as much as he can during his brief stay on top.
