If you were Quintana, what would you do now?

First of all, enjoy time with family and thanks God for the chance to become a respected CHAMP. Then what??? Well let's see the big picture. PBF will fight once this year, so he is out of the question. Cotto, Cintron and Margarito are fighting each other. A rematch with PW... why bother? Carlos convincingly beated PW.

So, I will make a fight late April / early May with a decent name / contender, let's say for the hell of the thread, Collazo. Why not? Give the fellow Boricua a chance to be on the spotlight like Carlos was given agaisnt PW. I saw Collazo's last fight and he seems recuperated of his injury and willing to take a challenge. But, I will get in touch with ODLH and talk to him about fighting the winner of a Mosley-Judah/Mayorga winner the same night PBF and Oscar fight on September.

Mosley wants a tittle shot and time is running out. The same thing with Judah. It has been said that Mosley will fight on Cinco de Mayo. Why not have the winner fight Quintana in September? The exposure on the September PPV will help Quintana get a bigger name if he wins. It's the logical thing to do. Plus, who else is out there worth fighting? Don't say BALDO!!! And Much less Hatton!!!

Lets not forget the UP AND COMERS... Berto and Clottey. Who knows JJC Jr. or VANES maybe... A solid prospect will be a good option, but the money might not be there at all. CARLOS QUINTANA MUST CONTINUE TO SHOW HE IS NOT A VH1 ONE HIT WONDER. If he is for real, then fight solid opponents, and not one of the "middle of the pack unknowns". His victory over paul Williams was huge, so keep it up Quintana!!!

well.. if he wants to fight Floyd sometime around 2011, he'd better start calling him out now.

if i were him i'd get a mandatory in if nothing was available but then there is clottey and there is mosley, whether they are available, but from his fight with cotto and his fight with williams, quintana grew tremendously. it's like after being in with cotto he has no fear of anyone in front of him, maybe it's the case of losing making him a better and more focused fighter.
i was really impressed with the way he handled williams, very impressed.
right now his options are low but with patients and staying discipline, he keeps up what he's got going now, he's going to be a solid champ for some time to come.

tune up, tune up, Mosley late 2008.

Two tune ups to build his name then take on Mosley would be the best option or he could try and persuade Oscar to scrap his fight with Forbes and fight him next in June. Oscar could get a belt and make his fight with Mayweather worthy but maybe it is too risky for him.

One thing I would not do for sure is call out the top names. He's not gonna beat Cotto again, Floyd would dominate him, he beat Paul Williams, his whole career is off of this 1 fighter. I would take some easy fights.

fight a mandatory match and win it looking very good, so it serves as a tune up, confidence and to show what is he made of so then he can have a big fight against anyone there available.

If I were him I would try and get the Margarito if he beats Cintron. He matches up stylisticly well with both of them. Clottey would be a good choice too.

Many rising prospects and contenders in the WW division will probably see him as the weakest of the belt holders (Especially if Cintron wins) so he will probably have a good list of possible dance partners.

I really see Zab and Mosley making hard plays on Carlos so that they can get back in the WW mix with a belt. If I was Quintana I would pick Mosley over Zab because Quintana is in his 30's and he has to go after the big names and Mosley is a bigger name than Zab. After that he would bring more money to a fight against other big names and consequently be able to demand more money.
