Cotto-Mayorga in July? Quintana-Margarito Next?

Interesting take.
I'd say however, if Mayorga had trouble with Oscar's punches and specifically the left hook: He'd have total hell with Cotto's left hook.

this could be a good fight, Cotto-Mayorga will be fire works and definitely something to have you off the edge of your chair, I don't see nothing wrong with this.. the Gomez nor the Mayorga fight can be worse than what Floyd is doing because at least Cotto is staying busy, he beat Shane and Judah and even the new WBO champion already, in fact he beat him so early on that he somewhat gets no credit for it, if Quintana didn't prove his worth against Williams people would still be pushing him to the side because they don't talk about the Joel Julio fight no more. Cotto took out enough names from the mix and now it's time for Floyd and the other champions to do their part..
people seem to forget that Margarito's last opponent was Golden Johnson, De La Hoya's next opponent is Steve Forbes and Alfonso Gomez is a bigger challenge at this point than both, Forbes and him actually are probably the same level of competition but 2 different styles but still my point is that not everybody is hell bent on facing the best in their next fights so why complain? I would love to see a Welterweight show down but then again I can't get mad at Miguel for fighting Mayorga and adding his name to his W list just like De La Hoya did 2 or 3 years ago, you can't hate him for that when Floyd is doing the same ****.
feel me on this, Cotto fights Gomez and Mayorga, Floyd fights Oscar De La Hoya, Margarito fights Quintana and Cintron, Cotto fights the winner of that whole ordeal and the winner from there fights Cotto next year, it can all happen the way the people want but patience needs to be in effect, I wont pay for none of this **** because I'm either on Sopcast or in a pool hall so I don't really give a ****, as long as the BIG fights eventually get made then I'm aight with it, just look at how long it took for some sort of Heavyweight unification fights to go down ya dig. Just give it time, Ive come to learn that if these guys are really out for the money they HAVE to fight these fights and all this in between time before fights get done is all time for build up and hype so when it happens we all watching, promotion, I ain't trippin about it no more because I realize this is all a game and the players are ****ing smart as hell..Comment

Oscar is a much harder puncher than Cotto. Cotto has been know to have trouble with those who pressure him. Mayorga used to and still can put on all out straight forward attacks. He swarms with ferocity and put Lewis,Forrest,Spinks,Vargas and even Trinidad on the canvas. If Cotto can be rocked by Torres I think Mayorga has a good shot.Comment

Agreed........What a disaster this would be.
First, we lose Williams-Cintron to injury.
Then, we have Floyd taking the Oscar paycheck and not fighting Cotto.
Further, Cotto takes a fight against Gomez, further forestalling any significant fights from the top two welters.
And then, when it appears we can get some consolation from all of this with a Marg-Cintron rematch that will at least give us something significant, we have this. If Marg-Quintana gets made, that's is beyond ridiculous at this point. Marg's love affair with the WBO is weird.
The Mayorga-Cotto thing I don't buy for a second, but if it is somehow true, then the Cotto-bashing should reach an appropriate all-time high. To take a PPV fight against Mayorga after Gomez would pretty much match Floyd's Bruseles/Gatti two-fights in 2005 to a T. Horrible mismatches to make $$$ and nothing else.Comment
