You double the speed, you quadruple the energy, which is why an M-16 bullet which ways almost nothing (like 60 grains) but has very high muzzle velocity (like 3500 fps) can kill someone, even out to 300-400 yds.

Then you have fighters like Malignaggi, with good hand speed, but not much power, compared with say Margarito, significantly less hand speed, but more power. So I'm not really sure.
See, when it doesn't come to Floyd you are a very knowledgable poster. I really think Floyd just brings out the worst in some people.

This looks like pretty good power to me at 140 lbs:

I know it was a tremendous performance on PBF's part but how many of those punches could Gatti have taken from another 140lb fighter and not be dropped, but I dont want to derail this thread into a PBFvsGatti thread.

I mostly agree with Gavinz in that IF a clean punch was landed by Mosley and a clean punch was landed by PBF the Mosley shot would do more damage.

I'm not saying that the current Mosley is a better puncher as better puncher takes into effect timing, accuracy and those other points you brought up but Mosley is the more powerful puncher when they do land.

Wonderful definition. Punch for punch Mosley is more powerful but Floyd is the better puncher when you take all other factors into account.

but doesn't accuracy = power? I always thought tyson didn't have that much power the way most people did, I thought his speed and accuracy got most of the KO's/TKO's his speed was brilliant and he was a very accurate puncher.

the punches you never see coming hurt the most...thats the case i believe when a punch lands out of the blue

Yes, I agree with Gavin and yourself. For me though Floyd doesn't tend to load up the way Mosley does. If he did; I suspect we all might be suprised by the results, but overall it's an open-ended argument. I concur.

I couldn't honestly say I'd rather be hit by Floyd if he was trying to hurt me as much as possible with one shot. In fact, I would probably pick Shane hitting me based on this concept. But I can see why you would go the other way.

Floyd, he stopped Hatton and actully did more damage to Oscar than I thought he could, Mosley went the distance with Collazo and Cotto and never really did anything impressive power wise.

To be honest, it would take quite a bit of money to let either one of them hit me cleanly on the jaw, even though I like to think I can take a pretty decent punch.

Roy Jones is a prime example of this. A majority of his Knockouts came more from speed of hand than power of fist. Although having some pop doesn't hurt.
