Williams beating Cotto's sloppy seconds gives him the "right" to what exactly?

I don't think a Williams win over Quintana can really help his Cotto cause unless it is spectacular. I mean, Cotto already put him away in 5. I don't think Williams has the style or ability to do it in less than 5, so he's just going to come out looking worse on paper.

          I love the double standards.

Who is Cotto fighting after Gomez? Any idea? I'll wait for you to answer that one...

Cotto has beaten 15 top 50 guys, Williams has beaten 4. Like Floyd, Cotto can fight who he wants, Paul still has to earn his stripes. Tonight is a small step in that direction, but who has Quintana beat again?

Well I wouldn't call a guy losing 115-113 (I had it 8-4) sloppy seconds, but I get your drift.

Either way, Williams would have to be really impressive, otherwise I don't see why he'd be a better option than Margarito. Who imo poses a bigger threat to Cotto, and definitely brings in more bank.

No I won't. I don't see how beating a guy Cotto KO'd will give him the right to fight Cotto.

But I do think Quintana is a pretty good fighter. Better than he is given credit for.

I give Quintana mad credit for stepping it up and facing Williams when Judah, Mosley, Cintron and some others refused to do so. William's promoter had to take Margarito to court to get the fight done and still it was in their terms with Margarito getting a career high payday and a 80-20 split even though Williams was the mandatory and WBO would have stripped Margarito if he didn't face him. This is a quote from Quintana himself:

Carlos Quintana: "Everybody fears Williams, but I'm not afraid of him. I welcome the opportunity. The fans know that I can fight, I showed that against Cotto."

What can Williams do if no one wants to fight him? I dont blame them though...Williams has fought and knocked out middleweights...I dont think its fair to the Welterweights. And yeah Margarito won 3 or 4 rounds against Williams and we all know Margarito throws 1000 punches and has a decent chin/power.

Margarito couldn't get ******* like Spinks or Judah to fight him for FIVE YEARS while he was a champ at WW. Paul just won his title, I don't feel sorry for him yet. And Margarito could have let them strip him and fight Cotto for another title, which probably would have been the smarter move.
