I think Roy was just having an off night against Tarver and Johnson...

Ajamu and Hanshaw top opposition??? A couple of colds in 2005??? It's more like he needed 2005 just to get over those KO losses! I'm not sure whether you're pissing in our pockets or if you're dead-set about writing nonsense like this??? Roy got KO'd baecause he's a fighter who takes hit and not be hit to such an extreme that when his chin got tested he got KO'd. Roy also insisted Merqui Sosa and sugarboy Malinga come in under their normal fighting weights. Backed out of a promised fight against Buster Douglas and refused to travel abroad to fight Dariusz Michaelzewski.... well, three off nights.
But since then he's come back to form against top level opposition like Badi Ajamu and Anthony Hanshaw. And we all saw the other week how he was back to his prime against the hard-hitting Tito Trinidad.
As Jesus is my witness, I believe that Roy probably just had a couple of colds in 2005, and that he's back to rule the boxing world once more.Comment

I can already tell this thread isn't going to turn out well. Let's see Roy in against an elite to test what he has left. I for one DO think he has more than some people give him credit for.Comment

If your dumb enough to believe that a "Legend" in the sport is washed up goods simply because he was stretched twice. I have Commodore Vic20 I'd like to sell you for $2000, printer included. C'mon!
If any fighter is capable of making a legitimate comeback to his perceived pound for pound status, its Roy Jones Jr. The speed is still there, the combos are still there, and his power is still there. Dam his chin! With the three elements I just named he destroys most opposition in the game right now. Think what you will of Roy, his career and defining moments are far from over, I assure you of that.Comment

Well truth be told, Prince Abooboo and Hanshaw were actually not that bad. Hanshaw WAS undefeated and had some decent wins, and Abooboo had some pretty good wins and has lately won a fight over an ok guy whos name I dont remember.
and remember, somehow wins over Trinidad propelled Winky and Hopkins up the p4p lists. and I thought he looked better in the Jones fight than he did in both the other two fights...so we should at least give Roy a tiny bit of credit.
but he is 39. thats pretty damn old for a guy whos best assets were his reflexes and natural ability and everything. not exatly at his best at this point in his careerLast edited by Steak; 02-07-2008, 08:08 PM.Comment

To me, he has yet to fight a credible dude since running all night against Tarver. Jones should fight Chad Dawson or David Haye so we can find how far gone he really is.... well, three off nights.
