It's not like the possibility of this fight has just just arisen; Witter has been calling him out for 7 years, in which time Hatton has had 20 odd fights. Hatton does not want this fight because there is a significant risk of him losing and unlike against Tszyu & Mayweather, losing this would put a massive dent in his reputation & ego without the massive payday and rep boost if he wins.

I'm actually a fan of Hatton but the excuses he gives for avoiding his rival are ridiculous.

Witter has a history with Hatton and they don't like each other, and Witter is a top Jr. Welterweight with a belt. What more do you want out of Hatton besides him fighting Paulie, Torres, or Rees? People are scared to fight Olusegun and he presents the same risk to Witter that Witter presents to Hatton - high risk, low reward. Witter's career defining fights have arrived in the last 18 months and are still a step down from what Hatton has been fighting during that time.

Mayweather didn't make Hatton rich. Hatton got himself rich and was already more than financially secure after his fights with Tszyu, Collazo, Castillo et al.

The winner take all thing is a nice line but realistically it can never happen and Witter knows this. I'll give him credit it though because it is a smart thing to say as it makes Hatton look a bit ******. It's just a shame that Witter didn't have his thinking cap on years ago when a fight with Hatton could have been made.

Some of those fights presented a route to a world title shot with some of them being world title shots.

Saying that Hatton fought bums is all well and good but who has Witter been fighting all these years? Zab Judah excepted, Witter has been fighting an even lower standard of opposition than Hatton.
