People do that with all fighters, like Mayweather, Klitschko, Pacman, it usually means they are good and people feel the need to try and take them down a peg. (in the most indirect weakest way possible, IE on a forum)

I doubt it, but to be honest Hopkins has been in with more skilled fighters.

first off, i like calzaghe, he is a great fighter who has proved to be a great at 168.

i do admit calzaghe has the tools to beat hopkins but to completely think hopkins has no chance is just ******. calzaghe has never faced a fighter as skilled in every department that can make you miss and frustrate you all night with clinches, pot shots and even headbutts lol.

This exactly what people need to get into their head, calzaghe could blow hopkins out of the water, but he could lose also, this is boxing, stranger things happen.

          good k given.

I agree, but none of them have been near 168. Winky is more skilled than anyone on Calzaghe's record, so is DLH, Trinidad even Joppy, but they are all much smaller guys and Bernard didn`t win all those fights convincingly, against Winky Wright he showed everything that was bad about him. But skillwise i agree he has been in with far better technicians. I think Calzaghe's natural size will be the defining factor...

            Bernard has a shot though!

winky wright is a fighter thats hard to look good against, no one has looked good against him ever and i feel hopkins did a good job in neutralising winkys best assets ( jab, workrate, defense) to win a UD. and at 42 he deserves more credit for that win

                Vasquez looked good against Wright.

Yeah, calzaghe wont have to worry about making weight this time, im not sure his power will hold up against hopkins, but i got this feeling either hopkins will get killed, or he'll make calzghe fight his fight and win. Actually though i havent made my pick yet, part of me think Hopkins will win, even though stylistically, i dont think he should. For me its nearly a pick em fight. Styles dont always make fights, look at pacquiao, stylistically he shouldn't be able to live with a guy like Marquez who is way more skilled and versatile, but the beggining of their 1st fight, Pac made marquez fight his fight, at his pace, and thats why marquez got hurt early on, B-Hop can do the same.

Hopkins is a great technical fighter and he can off set Calzaghe's rhythm with clinches and also slow him down. Calzaghe has struggled in rough tough fights with Bika, Salem, Reid, who aren't even in the same class as Hopkins. And while people may say Calzaghe fights to the level of his opposition which is true in same cases, i find he loses his concentrating very easily and gets hot headed quickly as well. I see Calzaghe winning a close decision but it won't be easy by any means. And as for Calzaghe's power sorry but he hasn't got any power any more he used to be a ****er early in his career but not anymore, if he hit Lacy with 1006 punches and couldn't even stop him then that should tell you a lot about Calzaghe's power.
This seems like the most sensible post i've read about the fight. The only thing i disagree with is that I believe Calzaghe has more power than your givinig him credit for. He probably doesn't show the power so often b/c its smarter for him to box.

I understand what your saying but Calzaghe IMO hasn't really had power in years, He has never scored a KO in any of his championship fights, i think he just beats down his opponents with an accumulation of punches, because he is so fast and throws so many punches in combination's that he just overwhelms his opponent's and its very difficult to punch back when your getting hit by that many punches thats why Calzaghe has scored a lot of TKO's. Believe it or not Calzaghe almost had 100 percent KO/TKO record going into Eubank fight i think its since he had the operation on his hand that his power hasn't been the same, he doesn't do a lot of sparring and etc.
