Commonwealth lightweight champion Amir Khan (16-0, 12KOs) is mapping out his future for the next two-years. The first order of business is to clean out the lightweight division, then he plans to move up to junior welterweight and take out the big names, which include countrymen Ricky Hatton (43-1, 31KOs) and WBC junior welterweight champion Junior Witter (36-1, 21KOs). I doubt either of these two are around by the time Khan gets there.
I doubt Malignaggi will be a champion then either or Rees. That division is up in the air. -

Maybe but seeing as a guy like Malignaggi mainly pitter patters to decisions. Khan would probably beat him if they fought now IMO. It'd be like a 12 round amateur fight, which Khan would batter him in.Comment

It's a positive thing overall for Khan to be speculating about the future and the writing was always on the wall because he's naturally too big for lightweight where struggling to make the weight will definitely adversely affect his performance.Comment

If he wants to move up he should fight ajose olusegun he would be a hard fight for khan but probably to risky.Comment

I don't think it's an immediate thing he'll still maintain at lightweight until he's challenged for a world title. I reckon, after the title challenge he'll move up (whether he wins or loses) and he's stated he wants to challenge this year so perhaps 2009 we'll see his first junior welter bout but Olusegun as his first JWW opponent would be a bad move, definitely too risky.Comment
