ignoring the point about Hopkins not fighting at 168 and his best win being against a guy who started at 130lbs... lol
Chris Eubank is one of Calzaghe's best wins and so are Brewer and Woodhall. The only really great win Calzaghe has ever had against a prime fighter is Mikkel Kessler other than that all his wins were against mostly goodish competition, i would rate Hopkins being the first man stopping ODLH better than mostly anything Calzaghe has ever done in his career, ODLH did start at 130 but he filled out he wasn't a natural 130 pounder, Duran also started at 119 so do we not give Hagler the credit for beating Duran ??

    • Hell if we are going to pick holes lets start with the winky wright fight which bernard didn`t even win and fouled his ass off the whole fight...that was a gift.

I dont think Durans weight of 119 is relevant, especially when you are 16 years old. Floyd could have probably fought at Flyweight at that age.

The Kessler victory i believe outweighs beating DLH, DLH was much the smaller man and past his prime.

        • Calzaghe really shouldn't bring up the Vegas confrontation. He's only going to get people to go looking for the video on BS and YouTube. Anyone (not directly related to Calzaghe) who watches that video will see that Joe was the guy with the deer in the headlights look on his face when Hopkins got in his face. Joe composed himself after a few seconds, but he clearly looked surprised and rattled when Hopkins put on his serious face. Hopkins showed zero fear.

I don't think that the face off will have any effect on the fight though. I expect Joe to come out and do his thing; which is create a lot of movement and fearlessly throw punches from all angles. He's got to be the smart money to win based on his activity, but I'm hoping for a great performance from Bernard. I like both fighters, so I'm just hoping that they put up a great fight, regardless of who wins.

          • it could go on forever.

Personally I think it comes down to who you believe the better fighter is. Looking at their resumes in the simplistic black and white sense is not going to tell you that.

I think Joe is a lot more talented, and always has been.

            • I had Hopkins winning the Wright fight by close razor thin decision, yes he was very dirty and he wasn't impressive but he got the win and thats all that counts. Just like Calzaghe wasn't impressive against Robin Reid but he got the decision and thats all that counts, regardless if i think it was a gift the judges scorecards are final and my opinion doesn't mean anything in that regard. I think Hopkins has a better chance against Calzaghe than most people think, Calzaghe has struggled in rough tough fights with Reid, Bika, Salem, Hopkins can off set Calzaghe's rhythm and slow him down by clinching and roughing him up. I think Calzaghe should box against Hopkins instead of trying to just standing toe to toe and just trying to out hustle Hopkins, Calzaghe's jab will be one of the keys in the fight and it will trouble Hopkins similar to how Taylor's jab troubled him, overall i think Calzaghe wins a close decision in a tougher fight than most people expect.

Im not really a fan of either guy though.

10 thousand points on Joe Calzaghe

Calzaghe performs to the level of his oposition that why he looked less than impressive against Bika ,Reid etc

I don't think he will win a title though Bute, Kessler, Miranda, Mundine, all beat him IMO.
