Cotto vs a Prime Tszyu: Who Wins at 144?

I was going to make this thread the other day but then someone put Cotto vs Hatton up so I decided to wait. Cotto vs Hatton is solid but it would be nothing compared to Cotto vs Tszyu. Those 2 styles were just made for eachother.

I was going to say at 140 since both did fight there but now alot of people seem to think that Cotto wasnt that great there so I dont think that would be fair to him. I do think Tszyu wouldve been good at WW if he had made the jump while healthy but he never did so thats not a fair weight for him either. So, Ill just split it nearly in half at 144. Lets just say the best Cotto vs the best Tsyzu. Who ya got? To me, that is maybe one of the best fights ever when you talk about style. There's no way it couldve been bad and it would be all devastating punches.

I think to beat Tszyu you have to either be a superior speed boxer like Floyd or you have to be a frantic paced in your space guy like Hatton. I dont think many guys who fight at a normal pace or at a normal distance will beat Tszyu so I would favor him. That power and out of nowhere explosion he had would give cats trouble. I wouldve even loved to see Tszyu vs Forrest in the pros since Tszyu beat him in the amatures. Again, Vernon is that great boxer puncher but he still fights the style that Tszyu loves to fight against. It wouldve been great

We all know that Tszyu was big enough to where 144 wouldnt have been a huge problem for him and we also know that Cotto is a beast at WW and was still good enough at 140 to think that 144 would also be comfortable for him also

Well pressure is Kt's kryptonite.. So would Kt be able to keep Cotto off him and dictate the pace??? I cant see him doing it for 12 rounds.. On the Other Hand I could easily see KT knocking Cotto out...
        Tough call..

Cotto doesn't pressure like Hatton does. I think Tszyu by KO.

you're right, cotto pressure's intelligently. cotto / tzuyu - at that weight, i'd be better suited to answer this question after a couple more cotto fights.

Yeah Cotto pressures but its still as a messured pace. He doesnt just stick to you like glue like Hatton does. I think Cotto's pressure & pace would be comfortable for Tszyu. It still doesnt mean that Cotto wont win but I just dont think the overall pressure would bother Tszyu. If Cotto won it would be because he's better

The thing is Cotto is kind of tailor made for Tzu so its a scary scary proposition for Cotto.

Before the Mosley and Judah fight I would've said Kosta because eventually he would've timed up Cotto for at least 1 big right. But now I'm not so sure 1 big right can do it alone. Cotto has great recovery and he adapts well, he's smart and game plans well. So if his game plan was to smother and pressure Tzu and keep the distance very short Cotto via UD or late stoppage. However if Cotto tried to box at a distance with Tzu, I would favor Kosta.

Just noticed it was at 144lbs not 140lbs. Cotto takes a much better shot at this weight. Cotto for me.

BTW, I and many thought that Cotto would have to pressure Mosley to have a chance to win but he surprised us all with out boxing Mosley.
