ricky got knocked senseless by a beautifully timed punch from floyd, floyd was also ahead on the scorecards at this time, floyd is the cleverest fighter in the game today, he has the ability to take an opponents gameplan, and beat them at it, while building up his own lead and taking control of the fight, hatton was soundly beaten and has no excuse other than that his chin is now suspect and he is a poor tactical fighter
you have 6 out of 10 rounds going to hatton. I don't know if it is any more clear that you are a hatton fanatic. 2 of the judges gave every round to Floyd and the 1 judge gave all but 1 round to floyd. Hatton even went a whole round without even landing a single punch, he is not even close to floyd's level. a rematch would make absolutley no sense whatsoever.
what hatton needs to do is fight witter. out of all the fights that can be made right now, the fight between hatton-witter makes the most sense even if it isn't the most in demand. they've both been ruling that division for a while and they are both british fighters. this is the perfect fight for the British fans and hatton isn't giving it to witter. I actually feel really sorry for witter that he isn't getting the recognition that he deserves cuz hatton isn't letting him have it.
after 50 millionth time he clinched and did basically nothing after, I was afraid both of them were going to be disqualified.
I understand that Hatton is a close range fighter and likes to hold and hit, thats his style. and usually I really like styles like that. but most the time, he didnt do anything. Hes supposed to be a volume puncher, but he averaged what, 40 punches a round? I wasnt too impressed by that.
and dont blame Floyd for the clinches. Hatton was holding more than him. Blame Floyd for running/keeping distance and turning his back, those things he did do. but dont blame him for ALL of the clinches.
Mayweather did the majority of the clinching for the first half of the fight. Hats off to him, it was a very good strategy: with all that holdin the ref would immediately step in to break clinches after a while.
I figured out what was going and why only after round 2 or 3, and I was very impressed and positively surprised Floyd/Roger came up with that.
As you see, I dont "blame" Mayweather, but he surely did most of the holding for the first few rounds.
