All Winky has to do is take a page out of Mayorga's book, if he wants to make big fights. Go in for the kill, and stop trying to jab your opponent to a decision win.

Yup... I can understand why most people don't like it, but I do... Winky is the best. It probably helps that my first fight I saw with Wright was against Jermain Taylor... not exactly the least boring fight in Wright's career.

Lol, okay, Winky Wright is a hell of a lot more likely to be remembered favorably.

But seriously for what?, i mean he beat a much smaller Shane Mosely and that second fight was very close, a dominating win over a comebacking Trinidad, a draw against Taylor and a loss to Hopkins and Vargas, i dont picture Winky going down in history, not saying hes not one of the best fighters of this generation but i think hes one of those guys who gets forgotten.

I like guys who can sacrifice excitement for skill.. But Winky just seems too complacent at many times in the ring. He complains about all of his shady decisions but the truth is- He begins to fight with an overconfidence at times. He's so in love with his style that he just assumes that he has a fight in the bag. You can be technical and still win with some oomph... Winky doesn't do that. His thing is doing just enough.

With all due respect, I don't think you understand the world of boxing promotion. Mayorga has been a marketable fighter, but not so much because he's exciting but because the fighters who have taken him on; DLH, Tito, Vargas, knew they could beat him.

I know Vargas lost but IMO, in his prime, Vargas would have killed Mayorga and a brawler like Mayorga fits the style of many fighters who want a challenge but they don't want to endanger their career with a loss. Vargas honestly though he could have beat Mayorga but Vargas just has nothing left in the tank.

Mayorga is a fighter that the elite fighters can beat up on, that's why they take the fight. His best time in the sun is when he upset Forrest in their first fight and then got the decision in the second one and alot of people thought Forrest won.

Mayorga is a non-threat for the most part at this point and that's why he will get fights.

i agree to an extent however i think Mayorga is more of a threat than you give him credit for hes a dangerous fighter hes obviously not elite but he takes some beating and if somone steps in the ring with this guy and takes him for granted he is more than capable of getting an upset

Being an entertaining fighter doesnt mean anything. Look at Juan Diaz. He has a very small fan base.

On youtube, I have a ton of full Juan Diaz fights. the highest video has only got about 2300 hits, thats the only one above 2000 hits and the rest of the videos are lucky to get over 200.

even Eddie Chambers fighting Dominick Guinn gets 5000 hits. I really dont understand it.

Mayorga makes cash partly due to his exciting style, but mostly its because of his big mouth.
and the marketable part of his exciting style is not how exciting he is himself...it actually is that he puts famous fighters in exciting fights, if you get my drift.
Mayorga is awesome though.

I guese some people dont appreciate good defense. IMO I dont think Winky is boring. He is a defensive wizard. I guese its different strokes for different folks. I would rather watch a techinal sound fighter in Winky than watch a wild ass Mayorga (just my opinion)

I appreciate Winky. I just think that he's consistently shown that he doesn't have that fire in his heart. You can be defensive, technical or whatever and still show that you want it more than anything.
