Look at Mayorga! This guy wins some, and loses some, but he is a very marketable fighter. Just look at some of his opponents. Forrest 2x, Tito, Oscar, Vargas, and now is in talks for a fight with Mosley. This guy gets shots at the big names one after another, due to his entertaining style. While guys like Spinks and Winky get put on the back burner, due to thier boring, lackluster styles. Gotta give it to Mayorga. He may not be very skilled, but he definitely shows up to fight, and u can guarantee that he'll give you your moneys worth.

All Winky has to do is take a page out of Mayorga's book, if he wants to make big fights. Go in for the kill, and stop trying to jab your opponent to a decision win.

Winky wouldn't win any of his fights if he tried to fight like Mayorga.

He doesn't have the power to do so.

With all due respect, I don't think you understand the world of boxing promotion. Mayorga has been a marketable fighter, but not so much because he's exciting but because the fighters who have taken him on; DLH, Tito, Vargas, knew they could beat him.

I know Vargas lost but IMO, in his prime, Vargas would have killed Mayorga and a brawler like Mayorga fits the style of many fighters who want a challenge but they don't want to endanger their career with a loss. Vargas honestly though he could have beat Mayorga but Vargas just has nothing left in the tank.

Mayorga is a fighter that the elite fighters can beat up on, that's why they take the fight. His best time in the sun is when he upset Forrest in their first fight and then got the decision in the second one and alot of people thought Forrest won.

Mayorga is a non-threat for the most part at this point and that's why he will get fights.

              Maybe so...

Pretty sure in 20 years, Winky Wright will be a hell of alot more likely to be remembered than Ricardo Mayorga... unless they are talking about Oscar's best performance.

Thats an interesting statement...I would think people will talk about Mayorga more as some type of legend, i mean taking 3 clean right hands to the jaw and then winning the undisputed welterweight championship of the world from the same guy and following it up with a ciggarette in the ring > Winky Wrights career. Winky was definately the better boxer but I think Mayorga will be remembered, i mean i can picture telling my grandkids about Mayorga when the time comes, what would i say about Winky, ya know?

Lol, okay, Winky Wright is a hell of a lot more likely to be remembered favorably.

Winky is like boxing's version of the San Antonio Spurs. Boring to watch, but gets the job done.
