      To the thread starter:

People have stopped with the Cotto's pressure beats Floyd **** after the Mosley fight, because he didn't pressure Mosley to a UD. He jabbed and fought his way to a decision.

Cotto fights in a different way than Hatton completely, so that is why you don't hear much about Cotto's pressure at the moment, because he really didn't use it so much in his last fight.

Yeah but Cotto hits alot harder, and is a better boxer and ring general than hatton will ever be. And not to break your heart but hatton is the new gatti in the sense that he doesnt take good enough care of his body to fight effieciently at 140 but is no way a challenge to any top 10 ww at 147.

          Very true.

Not quite as confident in your statement about Hatton = Gatti though.

He's gonna be remembered as one of the best by anyone with more than a dozen brain cells. Now, if you want to say that a Cotto fight would extend his legacy a little bit more then I would agree.
I'd say that fighting a couple of the top guys around him, who are secure at the weight class and defeating them would likely propel him into the top 10 P4P fighters of all time. No matter what he does in his career now, there's no way that he'll ever not be remembered as being one of the top 20 at this moment in time.

if DLH can't beat mayweather than Cotto sure as hell can't beat mayweather. Have you ever seen Cotto chase down a speedy defensive boxer like Mayweather, I don't think so. DLH had a picture perfect performance against mayorga and all of a sudden he looked shakey(although he gave may his toughest match to date) against mayweather. This is cuz mayweather is a great fighter and will make good boxers look amateur in the ring. Just like Roy Jones on Trinidad. Everyone thinks Trinidad is finished and Roy took advantage and all that other crap, but wait till you see trini vs forrest, or trini vs Taylor, I garuntee that he will look completely different than in the roy fight.

I believe Cotto can beat Mayweather and many people here do as well, you must be hiding under a rock or so narrow minded you only hear what you want to hear.
You you even listen to yourself? A few months ago Hatton was nothing of that. Suddenly, because you feel the need to lessen Mayweather's victory (which was hard btw) Hatton is one dimensional. Pff you make me sick.

Cotto is alot less skilled than Hatton and only an inch taller. Also Cotto has fought all his career as a Junior WW.

Oh btw, guess what? Mayweather is a natural LIGHTWEIGHT having started at 130!! These kinds of arguments fizzle.

What you can see here (as in many of the "hate mayweather" threads) is the typical, now getting old "Mayweather must fight till he loses" mentality. He is the best and the only way he should lose is if father time cathes up with him, he gets old. Thus the only way to his haters to get what they want is if Mayweather fights until his body can't endure no more. Cotto fans know it, Williams' fans know it, Margarito fans know it.

Cotto would add nothing to Mayweather's legacy. As of now, Mayweather would still beat Cotto but time is friends of Cotto in this occasion. But on the other hand there are new exciting fighters BEHIND Cotto in years, already calling Cotto out. Williams for instance. Cotto can run but can't hide and because he's very limited for an elite fighter he will rather sooner than later taste defeat. Chances are he will sooner than Mayweather.

So Cotto really wouldn't add anything to Mayweather's legacy?

Usually beating a P4P champion is a pretty damn good win.
