IMO Calzaghe is very good and should Hopkins win it will be the biggest win of his career. Same goes for Calzaghe.
if bhop manages a win i think he needs huge props because i think joe is that good! that being said joe by wide ud or late tko!

Interesting facts about Calzaghe vs Hopkins

Southpaws are very difficult to fight, Hopkins record against Southpaws is 9-0 (5 KO's)

The man at 168 will face the man at 175 (Both linear champs)

Hopkins hasn't fought anyone with the workrate of Calzaghe (1000 punches per fight)

Calzaghe hasn't fought anyone as elusive as Hopkins (Defensively + Movement)

Calzaghe is 35 and Hopkins is 43

Hopkins is will make this a very ugly fight like he always does, Calzaghe has faced one dirty fighter in Bika but nowhere as dirty as Hopkins

A win for either fighter will be their biggest victory of their career

Age is overrated. With all the modern medicine, things we know now about fitness and nutrition. It's not a huge deal, especially when you are fighting once a year. You only need to be fresh for 36 minutes.

It's impressive, it's not unbelievable to me.

And besides, Hopkins can outbox a Southpaw blindfolded we've learned. If Calzaghe was orthodox and dint square up so much, I would change my pick.

yeah it would be pretty embarrassing because despite not wanting to seem over-confident i think Calzaghe should dominate Hopkins and I think most of his fans feel the same.

i wouldn't hold it against him though unless he lost through faults of his own, like overdoing the showboating

I thought Hopkins was 44, but he is actually 43, couldn't be bothered to look up boxrec before.
Actually there is a 7 year difference between the two. Both are past their prime, both seem to have aged well. All of Hopkins biggest wins, Trinidad, DLH, Tarver, Wright were after he turned 36.

It would be extremly embarassing for Joe, and a serious dent to his legacy.
Hopkins is 44 and way past him prime, holding on at one last chance at glory.
If this fight is competitive then it will still diminish Calzaghe's legacy.

                It absolutly is.
If he wins, he took care of a 44 year old geezer like he should have.
If he loses, he lost to a far past him prime fighter and it severly tarnishes his legacy.
The only way he can come out of this looking good is if he stops hopkins, but i dont expect that to happen.

I don't think age is overrated at all. When you look at all the athletes who just flat out lose it once they hit there 30's. And Hops is 40+, so I actually think it's quite impressive. There's no doubt you lose a step or two into your 30's.

As far as the fight. I have a hard time picking against Hopkins even if he is old as ****. He just always finds a way to dictate the flow of his matches. I think Cal won't be able to get off nearly as much. Because Hopkins likes to hold and hit and use his head and all that.

But some of you need to be realistic. You actually think Hopkins is gonna get knocked out??????????

No need to exaggerate, Hops just turned 43, I get it, he's old. Calzaghe will be 36 when the fight happens, he's no spring chicken either, and since he relies a lot on speed, it makes sense that he would be more diminished than Hopkins, who doesn't.

Did it tarnish Winky Wright's legacy losing to Hopkins 6 months ago?

So according to you, he has to stop a guy who's never been stopped, or he's a bum?

                    Wow, just wow.

And it's a lose lose for Cal I think. Just for the above stated reasons. Hopkins didn't look that great against Winky and hasn't fought since.
