The official fav and worst trainer thread

who do you think is your favorite trainer and who do you think is a bad trainer?
I personally think teddy atlas has to be the best in my opinion after reading his book and doing a project about him in school. I think buddy mcgirt is the worst trainer! almost every fighter he trains either lost before or got whooped while he was the trainer example: antonio tarver, ishe smith, lamon brewster, gatti, david banks, sherman williams and going on

i like roger mayweather just for how funny the dude is... outside that, buddy mcgirt always had the absolute best instruction in the corner during the fight

I always liked Manny Steward as a trainer. I don't think he's the worst but the trainer I'd least like to have to Roger Mayweather mainly because I can't understand what he's saying in the corner most of the time.

Buddy McGirt always gives the right instructions but for some reason his fighters don't seem to be able to follow them.

Favorite trainer: Joe Goossen-always gets the best out of his fighters

Least favorite: Oscar Suarez-sent the careers of Hamed and Freitas in reverse.

Best/Fav: Floyd Mayweather Sr. really knows his $h!t & always gives great instructions...Worst: Freddie Roach, he just tells all his fighters to come foward & be agressive & 2 Use your offense as your defense

The worst trainer is Teddy Atlas. He has not produced any champion fighters. He doesn't offer any instruction to his fighters when they are losing, he just screams and humiliates them. The way Atlas treated Michael Grant was horrible. Getting tough with your fighter is one thing but acting like an ******* is another.

The best trainer is probably Emmanuel Stewart and second goes to Roach or Mayweather Sr.

Atlas did real good with Moorer, Moorer just decided not to listen to him in the Foreman fight and he helped train Tyson before Rooney took over.

How would anyone know who is the worst trainer or the best? It's all about how the individuals click and what works for whom.

The thread starter mentions Buddy McGirt, who I've seen train different fighters. He has his own system and it's enabled him to be successful in the sport. The way he does pads with his fighters is something else. McGirt constructed the gameplan that took down Roy Jones, brought Gatti back from the dead, and was named Trainer of the Year in 2004. He can't be all that bad, can he?

Look at Jermain Taylor's situation, where he hooked up with a legend in Emmanuel Steward, and has regressed badly since leaving his original trainer. Andrew Golata had a lot of issues getting his act together when he was with other trainers like Lou Duva and Al Certo. He had only lost once and experienced his greatest successes with Sam Collona, a relative unknown.

You can't judge who is the better trainer and who isn't by judging they're success with fighters that they didn't even create. Almost all of their fighters were created many years ago by lesser known trainers in hole in a wall gyms.
