No, I got you, and that's why I said you were okay. I understand your stance. It is a good matchup, but there are clearly many better matchups that can be made.

Nothing wrong with that at all.

I like Tony but Winky would box his ears off for a wide UD. The only way he's going to beat a tall quick boxer like forrest is if he knocks him out Mayorga style so it's also a dumb move. He should stick to beating up welterweights where he has the physical advantages over most. Even Oscar may have enough in the tank to UD Margarito although the payday would be well worth it at 154.

There are always two sides to the story. You gonna believe everything Bob Arum tells you:

        By Chuck Johnson, USA TODAY

Add Winky Wright to the list of fighters who've aligned themselves as business partners with Oscar De La Hoya's Golden Boy Promotions.
With Bernard Hopkins, Shane Mosley and Marco Antonio Barrera already on board as vice presidents at Golden Boy, De La Hoya announced following Mosley's July 15 victory against Fernando Vargas that Golden Boy has formed "a strategic alliance" with Wright's upstart company, Winky Promotions.

"This is a big step for Winky Promotions," Wright said. "A lot of people thought we were going to be a joke, one of these fly-by-night promotional companies. But we came through the back door. We're trying to do the right thing and take over the boxing game. Like Oscar says, we need to get all these boxers to make all the money they can while they can and, when it's over, give them an outlet to do something else."

Winky Promotions made its first move by extending a $1.5 million offer to Top Rank boss Bob Arum for a Wright fight vs. Antonio Margarito.

Arum, one of boxing's two longest-reigning promoters along with Don King, termed the overture to be a "phony offer," because Margarito is a welterweight and Wright wants to fight him at 158 pounds. Plus, Arum says he offered Wright $4 million to face Margarito — more than Wright made to fight middleweight champion Jermain Taylor
        — and says he was turned down.

Arum says the truth is that no top fighter seems to want to fight Margarito, including pound-for-pound king Floyd Mayweather Jr

If Margarito can make 147 without hurting himself he should avoid Forrest, at least for now. Of course if a DLH fight comes up you take it at any weight. But Forrest is high risk/low reward and I don't see risking a bigger paying Cotto fight.

Look at Post # 33. That should tell you that there are two sides to the story. Who are you gonna believe, a dirty promoter who lies for a living OR a fighter like Winky? The choice is yours

And no Margarito never wanted Williams but once he realized that he was gonna lose his WBO belt and that he would actually get paid more fighting williams instead of Cotto.......he realized he had nowhere to run and took the fight. Why is he not screaming for a rematch now????

I dont see forrest fighting at 147 either. He seemed to weight close to 170 pounds in his last fight.

High Risk/Low reward for a fighter like Margarito???? Margarito never became a jr.middleweight champion losing to santos. This would be his shot to do it against a more accomplished fighter in Forrest. Oh there is a reward. For a guy who can't even sell 20k ppv's......he can't afford to be picky.

Let's hope this offer is for real and let's hope Forrest accepts.

Winkey never returned to 154 after that point, what's so hard to believe about Winky wanting it at a higher weight?

And Margarito does want to fight Williams, he thinks he can win if he starts faster and is more aggressive, but from now on he pretty much has to do what Arum chooses because he went against Arum once and it cost him big time, and Arum won't take that **** again, and Arum wants to make Cotto Margarito more than anything.

Cotto would be the easier fight by far for Margarito if you consider the styles of both fighters. In fact, I'm pretty sure he would ice Cotto and give him his first loss. He should remain patient and wait for it instead of jeopardizing it with a ****** fight against forrest at 154. The Jr.Middle division is a graveyard compared to 147 which is the glamor division in boxing today. Concerning the weight, he has no problems making 147 as he came in like 145 or so for his fight with Williams and doesn't blow up between fights. Regarding DLH, there's no way he's going to face Margarito when he's talking about beating up 140lb fighters that he wants to force up in weight to face him. I like DLH as well but that is pretty chicken**** stuff.

that would be the smartes path to take. Arum should be smart enough to make him fight at 147, and I agree I favor him over Cotto.
