Glass now or Glass always?
Jones was never knocked out before Tarver, and even in the first fight with Tarver, took shots.
Ruiz landed a few punches flush and couldn't put him down.
Roy's body became "shot" which took his chin away...including mentally he went downhill. You have to be mentally strong as well to take a good shot.
Andy Rod**** was asked about being able to return a 130+ MPH serve. He said, you have to be mentally focused, 100%. If you are not, if you let your focus slip even a little bit, the balls will go flying by you.
For Jones, think of it like this as well. Next time you are sick, say the flu or pneumonia, tell someone to punch you...see what the difference is from when you are sick and when you are healthy.
You also have to be able to see the punch coming, which Jones didn't see when Tarver unloaded a hay-maker from Florida. It's the punch you don't see coming that hurts you the most. The Johnson fight, besides the obvious Roy decline, he was hit with a punch that covered nearly his entire left side of his head, from the neck to the temple and then went down hard on the back of his head. He also may not have recovered both mentally and physically, since once you get a concussion you can get another one and be susceptible to hits.Last edited by Benny Leonard; 01-20-2008, 02:30 AM.Comment

u say it like he has something to fear do u honestly think Roy can beat a man that throws 1000 punches a round Roy was knackered & could finish of Tito when he has him hurt ,how is Roy gonna counter Joe who dont throw single shots he throws combinations etc a 1000 of em a roundComment

Anything is possible.. Roy throws such clean shots.. a truuly great counterpuncher.. Joe will be coming at him all night.. this is a good fight that can go either way... dont for 1 second think Jones is an easy matchup for Joe..u say it like he has something to fear do u honestly think Roy can beat a man that throws 1000 punches a round Roy was knackered & could finish of Tito when he has him hurt ,how is Roy gonna counter Joe who dont throw single shots he throws combinations etc a 1000 of em a round
Joe has never had to deal with someone who has faster hands than him..
but Roy would have to throw more..Comment
