Does it matter whether people have seen him or not? No one has seen Sam Langford fight either but some 'experts' rate him as top 5 p4p based on what they've heard.
Everyone knows what Skelton is about, he is big, tough and unexciting.
He had no chance winning this fight on points especially in Chagaev's backyard and the fight went just like almost everyone predicted.
Chagaev won a comfortable decision after figuring out Skelton's style and size, just like he figured out Valuev (the size) and Ruiz (the style).

Ultimately, it comes down to this... do you want NSB to be a place where people who follow boxing discuss the sport sensibly. Or do you want it to be full of 17 year old punks who have watched the sport for two months and talk about it in terms of people "ducking" and being "owned"?

If your from Pensacola, Florida I cant belive You have seen more than 5 Skelton fights to be honest
This is a poster who is flooding this forum with a prediction for a fight when by his own admission HE HAD NEVER SEEN ONE OF THE BOXERS FIGHT BEFORE.
How the Hell can you predict a fight under those conditions? Either DO YOUR RESEARCH, or sit back and let others more learned than you discuss it and learn from them. Whether the guy was right or not is immaterial.
I'll agree with this.
I have only spoke on one fight where I hadn't seen both guys fight... and that was only because Versatile bet 23K that Golden Johnson would beat Antonio Margarito. I looked at his record, and took the bet blind.
Other than that, I try to lurk on topics like Chagaev-Skelton (because I haven't seen Skelton).
I haven't breathed a word on Haye-Maccarinelli, because I haven't seen either. So what would I possibly contribute to the discussion? Jack ****?
This was the guy's 22nd pro fight. Yes, he looked ****. By his own standards it was actually slightly better than he usually looks.
But why am I reading threads from people who have only seen him for the first time talking about how technically crap he is as if it's a major revelation here?
You're boxing fans, posting on the internet. If you had an interest in watching a fight between two boxers, why didn't you download at least three of both boxer's fights?
Fair enough, you might not be that interested to do that, but if you have so little interest, then why post your opinion/make threads on it as if you have something to offer?
I never post about ANY boxer unless I've seen at least three of their fights. That's my own personal rule. Imagine how much better NSB would be if people only posted on boxers they'd seen at least, say, twice, or only spoke about things they'd researched, rather than just making up perjorative opinions based on a boxer's looks/boxrec record/nationality. Wouldn't that be BETTER?
Fair enough, you might think you're allowed to express an opinion. But I just wonder why a forum dedicated to appreciating professional boxing is full of so-called "opinion" from people who by definition don't know what they're talking about? I mean, what worth is your view, and why are you flooding the forum with it, if this is the only time you've seen Chagaev fight? Keep your opinions to yourself, or post them in threads at the most. Don't start your own threads like attention seeking schoolboys pretending they know something when they haven't done their homework.
Jesus.
i totally agree. some of these bums who dis calzaghe have seen like 2 fights. then you get some bums who love a fighter when they have seen only 1 fight. it's unreal.

Uhh yes.
i'm not dissing you, but if a boxing fan like yourself hasn't seen haye or macca fight, then it's understandable why they find it so hard to get into america when there's no interest.
that's why americans think that it's ameriucan and euro's whereas me from the uk see it as individual countires since we actually recognise more fighters you could say.
I've unfortunately have seen some of Skelton's earlier fights and I gotta say, he deserves most of the critism on this forum regardless if a poster has seen him for the first time or not...
Let's not sugar coat things, people; Skelton used his height, strength, and weight to wrestle, hug, and clinch his way to NOT getting KO'd by a much superior boxer. As I've said earlier, Skelton clinched more times than he actually punched; so why should a boxer be commended for that?...
