Opinions on Skelton.. this is why people shouldn't post/at least make threads in NSB

This was the guy's 22nd pro fight. Yes, he looked ****. By his own standards it was actually slightly better than he usually looks.

But why am I reading threads from people who have only seen him for the first time talking about how technically crap he is as if it's a major revelation here?

You're boxing fans, posting on the internet. If you had an interest in watching a fight between two boxers, why didn't you download at least three of both boxer's fights?

Fair enough, you might not be that interested to do that, but if you have so little interest, then why post your opinion/make threads on it as if you have something to offer?

I never post about ANY boxer unless I've seen at least three of their fights. That's my own personal rule. Imagine how much better NSB would be if people only posted on boxers they'd seen at least, say, twice, or only spoke about things they'd researched, rather than just making up perjorative opinions based on a boxer's looks/boxrec record/nationality. Wouldn't that be BETTER?

Fair enough, you might think you're allowed to express an opinion. But I just wonder why a forum dedicated to appreciating professional boxing is full of so-called "opinion" from people who by definition don't know what they're talking about? I mean, what worth is your view, and why are you flooding the forum with it, if this is the only time you've seen Chagaev fight? Keep your opinions to yourself, or post them in threads at the most. Don't start your own threads like attention seeking schoolboys pretending they know something when they haven't done their homework.

This is a poster who is flooding this forum with a prediction for a fight when by his own admission HE HAD NEVER SEEN ONE OF THE BOXERS FIGHT BEFORE.

How the Hell can you predict a fight under those conditions? Either DO YOUR RESEARCH, or sit back and let others more learned than you discuss it and learn from them. Whether the guy was right or not is immaterial.

even Skelton knows he is not very good at boxing.

He is to be admired though in a way. Look how far he got. Bless him.

This is only the 2nd time i've seen chagaev, I personally am not going to flame him for looking **** against Skelton. I don't know how you can look good against him.

I was surprised how relatively competitive Skelton made to TBH. considering Chagaev is a canny boxer and Skelton isn't any kind of boxer, then it could have been closer on the cards.

Well it is flawed but it is perfectly possible to make halfway sound predictions just from looking at boxrec. Again, that is obviously flawed, but people do it and get away with it all the time. Are you a Skelton fan or something? I guess I just don't see anything wrong with people watching his performance today and deducing that he has about as much talent as I do, none. I don't see why anyone would have interest in downloading any of his other fights before or after this. Yes there was a belt on the line, but it was a fairly meaningless fight that absolutely no one could have been excited for. Mildly interested, sure, but excited enough to do film study research? Eh... I'd be surprised to find too many of those people. I had never seen Skelton fight either, but I could have told you that he'd lose to Chagaev easily. Anyone who is now old and has previously lost to Danny Williams is just not going to be able to compete on high levels. You don't need to study tape to understand resumes. It is the first kind of analysis Teddy does every week on Friday Night Fights. He immediately informs the viewers what kind of opposition a fighter has been in against and how much success he's had at the various levels.

I take most of your points - and no, I'm not a Skelton fan, I also predicted he'd lose a UD, that's clearly not the point I'm making - but the question is, why should this forum be deluged with moronic "noob" posts? It ultimately becomes worthless as a place for serious boxing debate because by definition 70% of the people posting know nothing.

Chill the **** out douchebag, I did enough research. The Limey's told me that Skelton fights like John Ruiz and he has a good chin.

I predicted a wide UD for Chagaev and I was right....so **** off.

                  YOU **** off.

                  You actualy predicted a TKO.

Look, the point that you're missing is - WHETHER YOUR GUESS WAS RIGHT OR WRONG IS IMMATERIAL - is that I shouldn't be reading the opinions of ****wads who haven't done any research beyond "what someone told me."

Keep it to yourself. It was MY prediction, too... but I did research. I made an INFORMED prediction. See the difference? No? Carry on with being a noob idiot then.

Skelton is a tough man with a big heart and he's a good guy.

                    Cant box for **** tho.
3rd time ive seen RC fight, not overly impressed to be honest - had predicted a KO win.
Skelton cant do any better than that, it was the best ive seen from him so come back to Brittan or retire Matt!
I Was pretty surprised Steve Bunce and Frank Maloney thought RC was the best HW out there!!! Wlad would surely smash him, ......right???
