    Numbers for Mayweather-Judah

Apparantly the fight was going to make less for Mayweather than Margarito's camp offered.

Maybe it is true that Floyd didn't fight him for more money.

I am still very confused how Margarito generates as much as well-known, welterweight lineal champ who had signature wins Zab Judah.

Someone should explain that to me.

As for the answer the 8 mil was coming from Arum. He was willing to put his money on the line, you know the same way he is doing to with Chavez Jr. by putting him on ppv against people Margarito easily outshines. Just face it floyd refused to fight Margarito for the biggest paycheck of his boxing career. Its alright to admit this, don't worry Mayweathe ain't going to see you around your block run after you then punch you in the face, it wont happen.

Cory Spinks, who was the lineal champion at the time since he beat boxing's hottest thing at the time, Ricardo Mayorga (that was pre-losses to Trinidad and De La Hoya).

If Arum really is willing to put his own money on the line for his fighters, he really might be the best promoter ever... but I have hard time believing any money-hungry promoter would do that. Arum collects from Chavez Jr.'s PPV's, so he ends up making money from it. He already owned Mayweather at the time, so I don't know how he would stand to make any money by forcing this matchup.

I really want to know how they were going to generate as much money as Mayweather-Judah was going to before Judah lost.

And you know I'm not making excuses... because if I was, I would have never posted the original link. I am merely trying to figure out how the **** Margarito (who didn't have a name back then) could draw that much money.

The only thing I can think of is that Mayweather was looking out for his future as a PPV star, having the status to be "The Man" that would make other fighters chase after him, etc.

          I really don't know.

It was a bluff moreso. Is this the 7 million dollar offer here, or the the 8 one?

Arum needed to get Margarito noticed so he bluffed. I really don't know why he would offer him 5 million for the bigger named Judah, but 8 to no one knows Margarito.

That and with PPV buys, Judah and Mayweather did a lot more then what Mayweather-Margarito would do, it would possibly give Mayweather almost as much money as that he would have made with Margarito. With deductions and everything.

Well King was actually getting the PPV cut, so no PPV money for Mayweather.

It also makes sense why Floyd would get less for Judah than Margarito, because Margarito was only taking 11% of the pot, compared to 33% for Judah.

I am mostly just confused how the smaller name makes as much as the bigger name overall, 9 million (Judah: 6+3, Margarito 8+1)...

I wish I could ask Bob Arum how he was going to make Margarito generate more money than Judah...
