Well done Jeff... that strategy usually works marvelously for punchers when they step up and fight elites.

Besides, It's easy to point out how he ****ed up, in retrospect.

However, when he made the KO claims in the build up to the fight, everyone essentially agreed with him.

I mean, I look back at people's predictions and it's a total whitewash. Nobody gave Calzaghe a chance.

So was he ****** for expecting a 1 punch KO? Maybe it seems ****** now...but in 2006 it did'nt sound so ******.

i feel sorry for lacy, he's always had power, now his shoulder's ****ed and he can't KO guys anymore. i think it's too late for him to learn fundamentals and become a great boxer. i hope his shoulder heals also, but even if it does he'll never be left hook again

That and the injury in his left shoulder. I admit bashing him after the manfredo fight but i hope he regains his confidence and his shoulder would heal 100%.

I can't really agree that Joe beat him that bad, those guys were stopped, I think you can compare Joe Calzaghe VS Jeff Lacy more to Trinidad VS Reid, he got his ass whooped by someone who was more clever and experienced than him who was able to exploit what he DIDN'T know and work around what he did know.. I truly think that shoulder played a part, just look at Vernon Forrest and how much better he looks with a healed arm, I think that a healed Lacy will be a threat and I would LOVE to see Edison Miranda or Librado Andrade face him, **** even Trinidad if he beats Jones Jr, Lacy still got some good fights out there and I think that due to a lackluster performance which he still won in my eyes he is unreasonably bashed when before all the problems and the layoff ya boy was hot..

I can't sit here knowing I was one of those who supported him before Joe and was biggin him up 4 fights ago to just be like nah **** him he's whack when Joe C been champion for 10+ years, longest reigning, had almost double of Lacy's fight count, was undefeated and so experienced, I can understand why he lost that fight as bad as it was, I can understand why he didn't look so good afterwards neither because thats like me right now with an injured ankle trying to walk on it, I wont walk the same as when it's 100%, it takes a lot out of you.. I ain't trying to write TOOOOO much but I just feel Jeff deserves a little more props and for the record I know you meant it as a joke, you one of the few members here I respect so I made sure not to offend, just friendly debate.. 100

I've seen nothing from Lacy that gives any indication that he will turn his career around. He should join MMA or something. The man simply cannot box.

a lot of people can't Box and still be successful, Sakio Bika is one of them, Glen Johnson is another it's just your opponent and your own physical health that will determine just how far you go doing that.. in Jeff's case we saw him against the best of his division for literally years upon years, the longest reigning and current recognized Undisputed Super Middleweight Champion of the world, a loss to him doesn't exactly render you a Boxing reject and with a hurt shoulder, the part of his upper body that connects his arms to his body being hurt, his only real chance at being impressive due to his lack of fundamental skills I can understand why he looked so bad against Tsypko and Manfredo but wait until he gets better,, IF he gets better..

and yo D I just realized you said it was nothing like the Kessler fight, I knew that but my point was that a more technically sound, undefeated, power punching champion who was 5 or 6 years younger than Joe, the only other champion with a title that was worth a damn couldn't do it and got beaten up too like 2 years later, the point is Kessler being THAT much more of a Boxer than Lacy with that much more credentials couldn't beat him 2 years later so to see Lacy lose being so inexperienced isn't a shocker, you could almost see it coming if you wasn't blinded by shades of Tyson and a hyped image.. not saying YOU in particular but the overall viewing public.

I think he was good but he bought into his own hype and after being humiliated by Joe thats what ultimately led to his suckiness and he is psychologically done.

thats a very limited point of view, you are not letting yourself think outside of the box and dig deeper as to why he lost to Joe, in terms of experience and actual in ring Boxing ability it was like a young kid against a grown man, since then homie didn't lose despite a ****ed shoulder and a layoff, he got a Majority Decision and a Unanimous Decision with the kind of injury that made Vitali Klitschko quit on his stool and basically give away his 0. not to say Jeff's injury was AS intense or even close to Vitali's but a hurt shoulder is a hurt shoulder and that **** plays a part, dig into the facts homie..

I don't think so, much like Jermain Taylor Jeff is just confident, he's not arrogant or ****y and he didn't fall into the hype, I think he knew who he was up against and came with a plan that was neutralized and just lost, after the fight he gave MUCH respect to Joe and didn't talk ****.. if anything he is physically done depending on how bad that shoulder injury is, if he can get past that and be 100% again then we might just see the same Jeff with the explosiveness that got him past Syd Vanderpool and Donnell Wiggins, it all depends on his healing, he's going threw a hard time now but by no means is he hopeless.

The shoulder injury happened in round 2 of the Vitali Tsypko fight though... it didn't play a factor against Calzaghe.

Jeff really did admit that his gameplan was to land one punch, which is ****** beyond belief, and I really do think that makes him suck... if you rely on one punch, then you clearly aren't very good at the sport of boxing. If you do rely on one punch, then you need to have a backup plan. He didn't.
