The 2nd excuse is that who else does Cotto have to fight? He just beat Shane, Margarito is fighting Zab, and Floyd wont fight him.

Now, lets break these down shall we. Who the **** has Cotto fought so tough that he deserves a break or needs a tuneup? I swear you guys talk about Cotto so high that you guys actually believe your own **** without looking at the facts. Who did he fight so tough? Other then a 37 year old Shane he fought a Zab who everyone on here calls garbage and this was when Zab was at by far the lowest point in his career. Dude hadnt won in 2 years and was coming off a year long suspension while anyone with eyes could see that Cotto made him look like a little boy. Who else? Quintana? Paulie or Torres at 140 when Cotto was way bigger? Urkal? Man please. Cotto was way bigger and better then all these guys at the time of those fights. Everyone predicted Cotto to win by KO in all of them except for the Mosley fight. Please stop acting like this guy needs some break or has had 12 tough fights in a row. I remember when Taylor fought Hopkins and Winky in 3 straight fights and then wanted a break and everyone ripped him for it. Cotto still has never ever fought one guy his own size who could compete. Not 1 single time.

Now to the 2nd excuse. Cotto has no one else to fight right now? Why cant he fight Williams? Why not Clottey? Didnt Cintron just call him out? Why not even a guy like Collazo? I swear you guys say stuff so much until you really start believing that B.S. I told you this kid was the new "Golden Boy". I wasnt talking about the money or any of that stuff. I was just talking about how he can do no wrong by the media and fans eyes and how they will always make an excuse for him while ripping other guys for the same things. Then you guys say he needs a tuneup for what? To fight Margarito? Ha Ha Ha. I forgot Margarito was a P4P machine that you need warmups for and I forgot how great Gomez is as a tuneup for that. Now on top of this we find out that the Margarito fight isnt even on the same card like we all thought and you guys still make excuses for it. Come on now. This guy has accomplished alot less then you guys are giving him credit for. Im almost to the point that I think Margarito might even destroy Cotto in a Cintron type fashion simply because weve never seen Cotto in that position against a solid guy who is his own size and who he just cant win simply because he is bigger. It will be a shock to his system. ****, Gomez might even make it more difficult with his size.

I remember when this fight 1st got made alot of Cotto fans said that its just a rumor so stop talking about it. They always say stuff like this and then it doesnt happened. They said it in a way that it was even sickning to them but I bet they will make an excuse for it now
I was thinking along those lines the other day, but i just left it in my head lol

        1. Cotto fought three times last year. It was the year in which he instutionalized his name in the welterweight division. He fought the best opponents that he could get. (Maybe not with Judah, but remember, alot of people thought Judah was going to win that fight.)

        2. If Cotto could choose his next opponent, it would not be Gomez. Cotto emerged as the most serious threat to Mayweather last year (consensus wise, it's not debatable). So he didn't want to risk losing the opportunity to fight a big money fight with De La Hoya or Mayweather by losing to a Margarito/Williams until he was absolutely sure that Mayweather and De La Hoya would be unavailable. Now, that he knows both Mayweather/De La Hoya are unavailable expect Cotto to fight in June/July against Margarito/Williams.

        3. Is there something hypocritical about saying Cotto deserves a break, but Mayweather doesn't? Yes. But here's the thing. Mayweather is the rainmaker. He can make any fight he wants to. Cotto isn't. Which means that Cotto has to play his cards right to get the fights that he wants. You see, Cotto distanced himself from the other WW's last year. He gains nothing by fighting them. If one of them can emerge from the pack, then legitimate pressure can be put on Cotto to face him. But until then, Cotto can ride this until he gets the Mayweather fight.

        4. Ultimately, Cotto will take Williams or Margarito in June/July and this fight in APril can be excused as he will probably have a three fight year anyway. Also, Note: Gomez is a top ten Welterweight. Not great. Not showcase material either.
now you, I can respect. A guy who comes back with his own points instead of just saying that an argument was weak but brings nothing to the table to go against it.

I disagree with you saying about Cotto doesnt call his own shots. He cant get Floyd or Oscar when he wants but he can get any other fight out there. He's the 3rd biggest name out there. I also disagree when you say someone emerging from the pack. Williams clearly beat Margartio so why do you think he doesnt need that fight? I think Williams has a better argument for the Cotto fight then Cotto has for Floyd

Back in the day, according to you Cotto was winning only because of how much weight he put on after weigh in, correct? Then after that he was winning because he hadnt fought a fighter who could hit that glass chin and finish the job, correct? Then after that it was that he was fighting no ones and his level of opposition ******, right? I've been reading your posts for a while and you've picked every fighter they put in front of Cotto to beat him for the above reasons. Has it ever occured to you that your hate is getting old? All this time, I hope you havent been betting against him.

Quintana was at 147, not 140, and he was undefeated at the time. Urkal was his mandatory and the guy is still a top 10 rated welter, after his loss to Cotto. Anyway, I refuse to continue reading your lengthy diatribe when all you are letting us know is that you a) know little and b) dislike Cotto.

            ps
You argue Cotto was bullying Jr. Welters, by making 140 and fighting them at Jr. Welter (paulie/torres) yet your hero Floyd Mayweather makes Jr. Welters fight him at welter.

If you could use just a tiny bit of plain and basic common sense, you could answer these questions yourself.

I think you need to reread what I said. I had a question mark after Quintana. I know he wasnt at 140 and I do know he was undefeated at the time which means nothing cosidering his only claim to fame was a win over a green overrated fighter in Julio

It was a better tune up fight for 147 than Sharmba Mitchell.

You twisted some of my thoughts. I still think that Cotto wins the majority of his fights because of his size. At 140 he was just far too big for the guys he was fighting. You could easily see that guys like Chop, Torres, and others were easily fighting well against him but at the end he was just too big. They couldnt hurt him enough and it was like a truck when he hit them. Theres a difference between a guy being a big puncher and a guy just being too big for the guys at the weight. He way way way bigger then those guys. Then he moved up to WW but the only real WW he's fought was Mosley who himself has always been a small guy. From the very 1st round Manny Steward who loves Cotto was even saying that Cotto just looks so much physically bigger then Shane. This **** is true. Sure he fought Quintana who's always been at WW but we all know this guy isnt a big WW with any kind of size.

I just want him one time to fight someone his own size or bigger. Thats all I ask and Im not talking about garbage guys like Pinto. People also get mad at me because I start off by saying "I like Cotto But". Thats how I feel though. Its not a gimmick. People think I hate Cotto but I dont. I watch all his fights. He's definatly better at WW and is improving as a boxer. His chin is also much better at WW and he's fearless. Still, I would love to see him with a real steep challange. Some people say the same about Floyd but you cant deny that Floyd has fought a ton of guys bigger then him and half of them are way way bigger then him. It changes everything. I dont even need to see that from Cotto but I would atleast like to see him have one fight against a guy his own size like Williams, Cintron, Clottey, Margarito, or even Collazo. I dont even think that Cintron or Magrartio are that skilled or good but atleast it would tell us all the final question about Cotto. Its my only question that Ive always had and nothing has changed even with his great performances. I just want to see him when he doesnt have that crazy size advantage

again, saying that is just hate. 1st off I will still stand by the cutoff part. You want so bad to put Cotto, Margarito, and Floyd on even level but there not. Floyd came from 130 legitmatly and has moved up unaturally. He's not that big. 147 is his basic cutoff spot. He can still win because he's that good but we all know that he's not a naturall WW at all and could possibly lose to someone who is not better then him simply because of the size.

My point is that the Mitchell fight was a good one because its his 1st fight at a weight he doesnt belong at. You wouldnt know about that since your boy Margarito has only been to 1 weight and the 1 fight he had at a higher weight he lost to a bum like Santos. That tells you if he went to 5 like Floyd then he would be slaughtered. Another thing about the Mitchell fight is that dont forget it was a tuneup to Zab so it is the perfect fight. A slick southpaw but not big enough to hurt him in his 1st fight at the weight
