What does Joe Calzaghe do thats exeptional?

Theres been alot of trash talking between Jones Jr and Calzaghe fans lately and i just wanted to try to clear a few things up. I've only been really impressed with JC once (v Lacy) and i've certainly never been laft in awe after any of his fights, apart from a great workrate i dont think he does anything better than Jones Jr (peaks) lets keep things civil!!

Wins and never looks like he has even just done 12 rounds.
He has excellent Speed , hits from all angles and fights the full 3 minutes every round for 12 rounds.
He can go toe to toe or he can outbox his opponents.
He may not excite some fans but the problem is with his hands there.
He has had to adapt to hit lighter.
    Yet he still wobbles guy's.
Too may people put emphasis on the Manfredo fight which never should have happened just like RJJ v Tito.
Manfredo was just a stepping stone to the next Target and gain some exposure in the USA.
He has beaten the best available at 168 so who can he go after next?
What could he do to make you think he is any good?
If he Knocked Wlad out you still wouldn't be happy.

The fact that hes been champion for 10 years. I dont care whether his record has the big names or not the point is those big names never went after him. Joe Calzaghe always wanted the best. Hes a genuine guy that wants to prove himself. He spent a long time being a high risk fighter with low reward.

I think a prime Jones jr beats Calzaghe down but it would have been a great fight none the less.

I can agree with some of that but i ask what does he do better than a peak Jones? He certainly is'nt faster and he certainly looked like he'd done 12 rounds v Bika. I really dislike the way he uses the inside of the glove (something he does less these days), he still has Bute at 168. I also think JC v a 43 year old is embarrasing, he has gained plenty of exposure in the u.s by beating Lacy,Manfredo,Kessler and surely a fight v Dawson would be a better challenge. I'm thinking back to when Jones stopped Hill and broke ribs with a single shot, knocked opponents down with lead left uppercuts/with hands behind back, fired off lightning combinations(and i mean lightning) joe has imo never done anything exceptional like that, he may have, thats why im asking

He's really good at picking apart washed up reality television stars and avoiding real opponents. He's also good at attracting a group of people who much like those who follow Floyd are unable to say a single negative thing about the man and are insufferable.

Chin, handspeed (second only to Roy), power (before his mulitple breaks of the left), stamina, time at peak (Roy hit at 29k tf everest peak, Joe is on a K2 level plateau), Hwyl (the welsh will tell you), ability to change a gameplan e.g Kessler (Roy was never put in the position of ever needing a plan B at his peak), bad taste in promoters (lol), the ability to fight dirty to neutralise someone (just like Bernard, but minus the butting).

Thats about it, please note the deserved respect given to a prime Roy before you wade in. peace D

He's very fast, throws over 1000 punches a fight, been champ for over 10 years, over 20 title defenses, can hit you from many different angles, has great chin, and more.

I believe he's the true champion at 168, no doubt in my mind, but has he fought every treat? No. SMW division has a couple of rising stars and middleweights eager to prove they can belong @ 168 so I would've liked to see him fight them. On the other hand a champion can't fight everyone in his weight class.

Joe Calzaghe's got good speed and he pressures opponents with his constant flurries and odd rhythm, aside from that he's got a great chin. However, he's very flatfooted and his technique is horribly overrated. He doesn't look for angles at all, he just finds them by throwing a lot, ofcourse those kinds of punches are going to find their targets sooner or later. It would take an equally fast boxer-puncher to beat him, someone who doesn't submit under pressure. That's why Bika made the fight that much harder for him, Bika's not a great boxer, but he doesn't submit under pressure and is a great puncher
