Ummm I stil don't see how it could be bad for boxing overall.

I swear, you're a sorry sack of ****. KILL YOURSELF!

Arum, the biggest ****ing hypocrit there is and you believe every little word that parts his mouth. So tell me this **** boy why hasnt Arum made the fight between Cotto and Margorito since you know so much about Arum.

This is the same Bob Arum that use to call Floyd the next best ATG like Ali and Sugar Ray Robinson but once Floyd leaves top rank, he is ducking one of fighters (margorito out of all people ) So why should anybody take the old hag Arum seriously? Why should we listen to his bias, fraud ass? Please tell me that since you like Arum so ****ing much!

Baldomir was a gimme fight if there ever was one, yes he held the lineal welterweight title, no nobody who knew anything about boxing thought that he had a chance in hell of winning. If you're arguing that Floyd's schedule was tougher, than show me the welterweights the welterweight champions has taken on and compare it to cotto. I didn't bring up floyd you did, personally I think Floyd should sit back and wait for the welterweight division while it sorts itself out and his next opponent steps up (from the top welters).

Becasue the fight is irrelevant to the top fighters in the sport currently. It won't sell as much as the first one (although it will still sell like crazy) and it won't do anything for floyd's legacy. I am a true fan of the sport and the fighters making money and satisfying the casual fan who still thinks De la hoya is a top fighter does absolutely nothing for me. I want to see top fighters fight each other while still in their primes.

But you may be right, financially it may be better for boxing somehow.

How was it a gimme fight when he was coming off 2 wins off gatti and judah, people actually though baldomir was the stronger bigger guy.

the same can be asked about cotto also. what top welter has he beaten? as far as their last few fights, floyd has fought better competition

I know who he had just fought, but did you think he has a chance in hell?

did others who knew the sport?

The only defense for the fight was that he was becoming lineal champ and making the 8 million he would have against Margarito, nothing to do with Baldomir or him having a chance.

check out the thread, that's what people thought, it was a gimme.

I'm just saying Cotto deserves on tune-up because after this fight it's nothing but top welters for him, and it's better to keep busy than sit there and wait for the welters to be ready. it's regular HBO too, not even a PPV for what would be an exciting card.

still, it wasn't a gimme fight, I would say baldomir vs cotto would make more sense then gomez.
