As a paying Customer and boxing fan, I am extremely excited that the powers that be would approve such a match of this Historic momentous to the sport of boxing, and especially at a time of the sport where when we are at a crossroads of wheater we are a dying sport or not.
This is exactly what the sport needed right now, two of the top Two Welter Weight in the sport of boxing, fighting it out to proved who is the best and doing it to bringing more fans to the sport...

I can not wait for this fight to happen, but my only question is why is this not on PPV because I wouldnt mind paying for it and I am sure that at least 1million people would pay for it too just like they do for all the other Miguel Cotto fights. This decision to broadcast this fight is a brilliant one; and I for one support this fight whole heartily, and I hope that everyone else is excited about this fight as I am. Thank You HBO for caring about boxing…

cotto could have fought cintron,williams or margarito, the options were and still are there. if floyd didnt want to fight him, he could have easily picked anyone from the above three.

Williams is locked up with Quintana, Cintron is not an option because Clottey is his mandatory and is also represented by Arum who said he will not make Clottey step aside from the shot he earned. Margarito is probably going to fight Judah next, and if not he will fight Cotto. Cotto has had one of the toughest fight schedule in boxing and people are critical when he has limited options and takes an easier bout that isn't even a gimme, and it's a good looking fight (style wise), I don't get it.

I think De la hoya/Mayweather 2 is more of a bull**** bad for boxing joke than Cotto/gomez.. I really like gomez but if cotto needs to stay busy just let him fight gomez.It would be entertaining IMO... and later He'll fight Margarito.. Dont hold your breath for Mayweather/cotto OR cotto/williams..
