I am personally in the camp that Cotto-De La Hoya was ****, and so is the rematch, but I think you have a hard battle justifying why it is okay for Cotto to fight Oscar and not Floyd.

You gave the fight to Oscar... it could be (snowball's chance in hell) that he is taking the rematch to shut the few critics up that gave the fight to Oscar.
Here is my thinking. Oscar is still a threat, therefore it is OK for a young fighter like Cotto to take the fight for one payday.

Fraud is getting greedy and going back for more. Not to mention that everyone says Floyd has to fight the #2 welterweight Cotto ASAP. The 2 year excuse worked long enough to get Cotto looking elsewhere and then Floyd ducked him for Oscar.

I am against the fight because Cotto deserves to fight Floyd NOW. If you believe that Oscar was robbed against Mayweather, then yeah maybe the match is justified. The boxing media and floyd nuthuggers did a good job squelching that assertion though, so its a moot point and is now a fallback position for desperate Floyd apologists on the ropes.

Genaro Hernandez and Jose Luis Castillo were never champions. Jose Luis Castillo won (barely) his alphabet belt from Stevie Johnson. Genero Hernandez won the vacant WBA belt, vacated it and then won the WBC belt from an old Azumah Nelson. Neither Hernandez nor Castillo unified the titles or defeated the previous linear champions (Brian Mitchell and Pernell Whitaker). Stevie Johnson was never a champion at lightweight and Azumah Nelson was, like Johnson, merely an alphabet titlist. Stevie Johnosn won his alphabet belt from Jean Baptiste Mendy and Mendy won that vacant WBC belt in a bout with Lamar Murphy.

          Quit ****ing spamming for Paul.

Well I don't know how YOU specifically can keep saying that Oscar was robbed and that there is no point in Floyd fighting Oscar again.

I wonder how he got his Ring belt...

He beat Johnston in 2000 when they were #1 and #2... but didn't get the belt according to boxrec's historical The Ring ratings.

The fact is the lineal title can never be truly achieved, because every weight class has had "the man" retire or move up at some point, meaning no one ever beat them at that weight.

The Ring is really all we have to go by, unless we want to consider Rocky Marciano the lineal champion for the heavyweights for the rest of eternity.

I know it is... it is usually the same though.

It usually takes a unification to acquire it, and then it takes beating that person in the ring to take it away so... it is usually the same person that is the lineal champ.

nah bro. I remember Tarver was holding the IBO...the freakin' IBO at 175. And the Ring gave it to him. Not always the case.

                  Because he beat Glen Johnson.

They both had ABC belts, but vacated them to face each other to see what would happen in #1 vs. #2, instead of #1 vs. #6 and #2 vs. #8.

I don't think I'm using them unfairly. I think I'm just trying to get you to be consistent.

I told you, I think Floyd won clearly, and I think the rematch is ******.
