Tarver had very bad stamina in the Hopkins fight. If it was the difference in skill than he would have started to jab the air, because you start to jab a lot when you aren't landing with anything. Or he would have tried to throw combinations at him, but he wasn't.

Aaaand the discussion about why Roy picked who is childish, he can pick whoever he wants. Apart from America Calzaghe seems to be a 3 to 2 Favourite, at least at the places where the people have knowledge about boxing. Roy knows his stuff and picks the most probably winner.

Calzaghe is way, way, way more dangerous for Roy than Hopkins is. Give some credit for calling out the best around or soon to be in his weight class. And also, give him some props for trying to regain what he once had : a hand around the world of boxing. Roy was the best ever when he was on his game. Point blank, untouchable. Period. Now dispute that.
Calzaghe is not "dangerous". Roy can box for days with the best of them, no doubt in my mind he would rather fight the easier fight in Calzaghe. Win or not, hes not going to have to worry about getting knocked out or deal with Bernards tactics. Bernard is a fighter and would present a harder fight than Joe, whether he wins or not. Bernard holds, roughs you up, headbuts following the lead right hand, you think Roy wants to deal with that, or deal with someone with good handspeed that likes to box such as himself. Roys speed may neutralize the strenghts of Joe, now if he were to fight Bernard, win or not, hes going to get roughed up. Come on, you really think Bernard is that same fighter he was at that time, come on man.

People are saying Tarver wasn't the same Tarver? Come on guys. You are Jones fans and should know this more then anyone:

"I just make em look like nobody"

HOPKINS MADE TARVER LOOK LIKE ****. And he smuthered the crap out of Winky making Winky look unimpressive also, he just made Tarver look even worse.

The reason why Tarver didn't throw combinations was because he wasn't allowed too. If he tried to, he would have gotten wrapped up like Winky or countered. Though the most important reason why he didn't was he was discouraged all night by Bernard. He was dominating him hard and getting knockdown in the round you were supposed to knock him out probably mentally hurt him even more.

"If it were difference in Skill, he would have jabbed the air"

Yeah, that's why he was getting countered all night by Bernard's right. He did a great job of neturalizing that jab. Tarver didn't seem to gain all that muscle from Rocky 6 like Roy gained muscle for fighting. I think he could have lost that easily, since when they flimed the boxing part of it, it was the night of Taylor-Hopkins 2. That's really the only time he had to have a "great body"

He could have easily made that and I doubt, like I said, gained that much muscle anyway. He was literally punching Balboa as it was. I'm sure Balboa wouldn't want him to gain too much weight when hitting him.

I'm suprised the "I WAS POSIONED!" stuff didn't come up yet.

im not being biased here... im being 100% honest...i was rooting for bernard i nthat fight! when he knocked him down in the 1st i jumped up... im not being biased... he was 220LB for the rocky fight... and had to lose 45 LBS to make 175...

Whose gonna make you look worse? Roy? or Bernard? bernards a skillful boxer... roys as unorthodox and hard to hit as they come... if anyones gonna make you look bad its roy... Tarver was on game point for roy... when tarver had to drop weight... he was slow, didnt throw any punches.. he just stood there waiting for bernard to throw... all the announcers were talkin about it.. buddy mcgirt kept asking what was wrong... it wasnt like bernard wasnt there to be hit... he was standin in front of him all night long

obviously a bernard fan wants to be credited for beating the best tarver... but he didnt... i still give bhop the credit... he still jumped up 2 weight classes. he deserves the win... its just that he fought a sluggish weight drained tarver... it, is, true.

Not anymore with Roy. Maybe in his prime, but Bernard is a lot more physical rough tough fight were you look bad even if you get the win. He might have been 220, but I really don't think that was all muscle. It maybe had something to do with it, but I really don't think it overshadows of how much Bernard made Tarver look bad.
