Armstrong is more for achievement. He not a defacto p4p. When chosing p4p you have to think would anyone beat this guy in his prime? I'd pick Pernell Whitaker to beat Henry Armstrong.

I am also reluctant to include fighters on any of my lists that there is not much footage on. For this reason I will NEVER include Harry Greb in any sort of list.

Henry Armstrong was very very good, but I tend to reserve the top10 spots for technically sound fighters. Henry Armstrong was not a terribly great boxer, but an outstanding fighter. He used his incredible stamina to overwhelm his opponents.

Thanks for the refresher on Armstrong. I'd actually never heard about that whole stamina thing. Crazy.

You make your lists based on skill? Because if so, that's a very flawed list. It would have Roy Jones in the top 5. Micheal Nunn would be number 6. But obviously, this isn't the case in reality. Things should be ranked on a scale of skill and accomplishment, combined.

I mean, it's not like most modern top Hw's wouldn't beat Joe Louis. But does that make them greater?

I don't have Pernell in my top ten. And a strictly head-to-head list is pretty much impossible to have exactly right.

P4P list is to say "best fighter" not most acomplished. Keep that in mind when look at this. Also note Heavyweights have no business in P4P lists for obvious reason. If they did, you'd have to place a 7ft giant with a puch number one. It would be like saying Sammy Schilt is the best kickboxer in the world.
Yet you have Louis and Ali on yours?

Of course heavyweights have just as much business as any other weight on p4p lists. It's just that usually they have to perform much better because their weight is counted against them. And big HWs like Lennox Lewis have an even harder time. Remember that Mike Tyson was #1 p4p at one time.
