I meaned this Dude is Still Fighting For Free ON HBO.... and he is suppose to ne Mayweathers Equal is terms of being a star and a draw..?
Cotto ain't known? he just beat Sugar Shane Mosley on PPV homie. for 3 years on PPV he fought on the night of the Puerto Rican day festival and had the WHOLE New York City buzzing, local? he ain't buzz NYC the way Ireland's John Duddy does he took it by storm. he fought Paulie Malignaggi, Mohammed Abdulaev and Zab Judah all on PPV meanwhile 2 of the 3 never been on PPV in a main event before, who was the attraction? he fights free on HBO when there is no occasion, when there isn't no festival or parade or if there isn't no opponent of big magnitude, even when he fought Abdulaev and Paulie i understood because the next generation Puerto Rican sensation was COMING UP so he had to be showcased properly on PPV but now that he already CAME UP for him to be fighting someone like gomez who lets be honest isn't no elite fighter, it doesn't warrant a PPV showcase, now the Margarito-Cintron winner VS Cotto, watch THAT be a PPV.

it's called proper promotion, **** Taylor-Pavlik I was on HBO and look at the rematch, sometimes it's good to throw a freebie because the kick back is always tasty, just ask Oscar De La Hoya BUT don't think for a second that Miguel Cotto isn't an attraction, that he wont draw money or fans.. Floyd doesn't fight Miguel NOT because he doesn't think he's a draw, thats just an excuse, he doesn't fight him because he's building the hype up, he's keeping me, you and every other member here buzzing and demanding for it so when it finally does happen the money will be immense but NOT because Cotto ain't no draw, believe that..

Anybody looking to defend this deserves, imo, to be banned from watching boxing.
          could be worse..

Most people dont like Mayweather and because Hatton looked bad against him and lost people say such bull**** like you did here!! I dont think it makes a big difference if Hatton fights at 140 or 147, especially against a guy like Mayweather whos physically smaller than him anyway!
And besides that, people should stop bitchin about Gomez as an opponent! You cant always fight against the elite, every champion fights some lesser fighters here and there, its just normal!

              It's pretty bad.

What's the draw in that fight? Is this just going to be billed as another Mex/PR battle? lol what's funny is how it's a World Class top P4P fighter in against a mediocre, limited guy. Receiving all this hype.

Gomez' best win was against Khaddour.

Beating down an old, weathered, blown up, punch drunk Gatti doesn't count.

Floyd did the same thing, he beat an old and punch drunk Gatti, he beat Gatti years upon years after all the battles and bruises he endured, he was CLEARLY not the same, you discredit Gomez for beating Gatti but talk about Floyd too fam he did the same ****. Gomez is at least young and at his peak unlike Oscar De La hoya who can literally say that he only has 3 opponents left, one against another Contender star Steve Forbes, you need to think about what you saying fam Gomez beat Gatti and put an elite name on his resume just like Floyd did accept when Floyd did it he was lucky enough to face a Gatti who made a decent come back and won a title, nothing amazing but it was Gatti's last Hoorah..

this fight isn't meant to be a draw it's meant to be a unification set up bout with the 2 winners to face off, Cotto is fighting Gomez because he just beat Shane, he deserves someone who isn't going to present the same challenge as a Paul Williams or Margarito whom is actually the fighter that this card is supposed to have Cotto end up facing in July but I think it will be Cintron. either way Cotto just beat Shane and now he's fighting a guy who is tough, came off 2 good wins and is NOT a tune up, someone who can actually connect against Cotto but not wreck him. I see no problem in that, Gomez is a solid opponent, i didn't see you complaining when Antonio Margarito took up golden Johnson who was clearly outmatched, be easy on the hate, how doesn't beating Gatti count when he beat a name on a huge card that a lot of people came to see that night, his exposure was immense, chill fam..

Lol, I love how a guy who defends Floyd for taking the Oscar fight says that anyone who defends Cotto-Gomez should be banned from boxing, because the real welterweights are running from each other.

                  How about that...

Mayweather vs. a JMW who hasn't won in a while is okay, but Cotto fighting Gomez who hasn't lost in a while, and is an actual welterweight is a disgrace to boxing.

The consistency here is just so money.

Yeah it really is. And the worst part about it is there are some Mexicans out there who really think Gomez is tough enough to give Cotto a good fight. I mean WE as Mexicans need to be smarter than this. They can't feed us crap like an Alfonso Gomez fight against Miguel Cotto. This is ridiculous. This is why boxing has become so nationalistic and people can't admit that fighters of other races and nationalities can be the best.

People want to get mad at Bernard Hopkins for talking about race and then many of those same people want to believe that Cotto-Gomez is going to be a good fight because Gomez is a "tough" Mexican warrior. It's ****** and kind of hypocritical.
