I like Miguel Cotto, I really do but seriously I cant see him beating Floyd, he deserves a shot at him but he wont beat him, Open up my thread back in 2005 when I said Cotto is the real deal, this has nothing to do with cotto being a bad fighter, he is a very good fighter, but Floyd is a great. Great fighters beat the good ones. Cotto leaves himself open floyd will use his face for target practices and lets admit it Floyd is quicker than Mosley has a better defense and better boxing ability yet some people thought he barely beat him, Cotto wont be able to hit Floyd with as many punches and will get countered all night. I'm telling you Cotto has a style which will make Floyd look great.
Miguel Cotto and Ricky Hatton have had similar careers in leading up to Mayweather. Hatton won a contreversial fight against Collazo, Miguel Cotto has had trouble with slick boxers like Malignaggi, Judah, and at times, Mosley

a left hook and a lead right hand that's the only two cottos needs to know what i would practice if i were cotto is break mayweather defense from the outside which we have all see cotto could adapt pretty quick to things he just needs to study floyd that's all.
2) Mayweather is not going to look good in this one, his plan will be potshotting without engage because he will WANT to do so (Cotto will be around 160 on fight night) and he CAN do so (Cotto is slower than Hatton, and more conventional). Cotto and Hatton are different in many aspects, the guy who was going to make Mayweather shine was Hatton.
Cotto will be a damn tough fight but in the end Floyd will outclass him and retire.
Cotto will bring his best and Floyd will need to fight at a very high level, but I dont see this being an eyepleasing fight. He will need to be very smart on his feet, with Cotto cutting off the ring and moving behind that stiff jab.
Cotto is to Hatton what PBF is to Zab. Hatton is in now way a measuring stick for how PBF will do against Cotto. Cotto is much more diverse and adaptable than Hatton.

wow what blatantly ****** comments. Mayweather may win but it will be nothing like the Hatton fight.
If Mayweather is to win he will have to fight a safety first style fight, pot shotting and running. Even that wont be as successful against Cotto. You are correct in your assessment that the Cotto Mosley fight was close but it was close because of Mosley's unique attributes: amazing strength, and speed of hand and foot, world class chin and endurance, and very good power. Who was the last guy you saw actually stun Winky Wright? Granted he put his guard down but even Taylor didnt stun Winky like Shane did. Furthermore Mayweather doesn't want any part of Mosley for whatever reason so drawing comparisons should be carefully done not generalized.
I can guarantee if you took Cortez' blatant favoritism out of the Hatton equation, which let Floyd run the gambit as far as fouls are concerned forearms, elbows. holding the head down and hitting and breaking any action on the inside at every available opportunity, Hatton would have been way more competitive. You think Arum will let that **** Cortez anywhere near this fight? No way.
