Lennox Lewis had a decent chin

Check this video, its compiled with the hardest punchers he has faced.

Lewis was only down twice in 15 years and only counted out once... He took all these punches from some of the heaviest hitters in that division.

It has Tua, Tyson, Klitschko, Bruno, Ruddock, Briggs, etc etc. and he KO'd the guys in the rematch. If he was'nt unfocused sometimes he would'nt have had those two losses, he avenged them anyway but he could have been undefeated

I agree mate. It's probably the same people who think Frank Bruno had a glass chin, Bruno had a solid chin as well. He just didn't have the ring smarts to take a knee and clear his senses.

Exactly right, one of the biggest myths in boxing is that he could'nt take a punch. He is one of the very greatest heavyweights of all time and in years to come will be regarded in much higher esteem than he is now.

Well his chin definitely wasn't granite if he was stopped with a single punch early in the second round by a clubfighter in McCall. If any of Tua's bombs had landed cleanly, it would have been good night.

Tua landed flush on Lewis several times but Lennox saw those punches coming unlike the punches by McCall and Rahman.

'the punches you don't see coming are the punches that hurt you most'
or however the old saying goes.

That's only speculation on your part. Tua landed left hooks cleanly on Lewis' chin and he took them as well as great punches from such hard hitters as mentioned at the top of this thread. McCall despite being a club fighter could still pack a hell of a punch which an inexperienced Lewis walked onto doubling it's power he still got up at the count of six and should have been given the chance to continue. He was in no worse condition than Larry Holmes was after getting hit by Shavers and had the fight been stopped there how many people would have said Holmes would have gone on to win. Lewis was tagged by many a great puncher and had good recuperative powers. The Rahman punch he didn't train and was past his prime but watch how many great punches Rahman hit him with in the first fight and the 2nd fight as well.

Come back when you've watched some more fights indepth and have a bit of knowledge.

I think lewis's chin is underrated but he was out on his feet in the mcall fight and would have been kayoed. as devastating as the holmes knock down was he got up fairly clear eyed and steady where as lewis's eyes were clearly glazed and he fell back toward the ropes prompting the ref to stop it

Yeah he was definately hurt big time but how many other heavyweights could have walked onto that punch and not been.

Also while he was clearly hurt and wobbly he got up and he deserved the chance to continue. That was the first time in heavyweight history that a champion had been floored got up and not been given the chance to continue. There is every likelyhood he would have been stopped but it's not fact. He might of held on and recovered within 5-10 seconds enough to move away and last the round out. A small percentage this happens but he was a clever fighter and McCall wasn't the best of finishers or the most accurate of punchers. The knockdown punch was thrown out of desperation he was just winging with his eyes shut and got lucky with a great punch. Lewis deserved to at least have one more chance at defending his title.

most would have went down as he got beat to the punch and never saw it coming. it was pretty similar to sanders beating wlad to the punch with the left as he like lewis was loading up on a right hand and got beat to the punch. I agree he deserved the chance to continue but I remember looking at his condition and thinking to myself its over if the ref lets it go on. it may have been a blessing in disguise for lewis as it didnt seem to carry over in his next few fights until he made the same mistake against the rock
