The fight started to look quite funny in the last round before Vitali's corner 'retired' because Byrd was walking forwards and Vitali was going backwards.

Here's the last round and the corner 'retirement'.

Byrd had a pretty good round there, the man should go down as a legend. Wlad did a lot better against Byrd than Vitali did, not sure if it should count because of the injury though.

Remember Vitali said after this fight that he would never quit again and he didn't. So I don't think he was too happy at his performance in this match either.
which makes it obvious that his reason for quitting was purely to protect further injury to the arm as byrd wasnt showing to be much of a threat in that fight. it was hard to figure at the time but turned out to be a wise moveas it could have even further shortened his career. he doesnt hold a phd due to a lack of intelligence

but you are right, he is no coward.

actually, it was a rignside doctor who recommended/demanded that vitali stop and have his shoulder looked at immediately - i beleive based upon vitali's input that he couldn't feel his arm.

he also fought for something like 6 rounds with this torn shoulder - so it is not that he gave up or anything. also, meaning that it had hardly anything to do with byrd's skill. perhaps bad warm up, etc. but i beleive it was round three when his shoulder got messed.

he also learned that american *******s don't give a **** about fighters and wouldn't care if he went on to win that fight but never boxed again. thus, he made it a rule to never stop a fight under any circumstance again and to protest against a stoppage of any kind in the future.
      Excellent post.

I don't know why some people keep making hateful threads about Vitali. I think he was one of the toughest boxers I've ever seen and a classy guy.

Yes but he regretted that decision himself. Vitali said he would NEVER quit like that again, even if he got injured. It was an intelligent decision but to be a champion you must risk your health.
Vitali did that against Lewis and even against Sanders, he was badly staggered after that first and could've quit easily but decided to hold on.

Maybe it's because you Vitali fans make hundreds of threads about how great he was and how great he would've been and how he would've beat any of the top HW's because he was big and tough.

        You are asking for it.

Here's a one star rating in return for your Vitali-bashing.

true to an extent but it seems there's even more ridiculous hater threads that are just as bad if not worst then the fan threads

I don't get why you Vitali fans get angry when people say that was a coward move. Even Vitali regretted it.

Those are ****** too but they will disappear if you, you know, ignore them. It's obvious that they are trolljobs and they want to rile people up. And when you get angry at those threads they succeed in doing so.

If you lay down factual arguments at those haters they'll either quit trolling or keep on insulting you and look like losers in the process.

obviously the announcers didnt realize that vitali tore his rotator cuff and needed surgery at the time or they wouldnt have been quite as bewildered
