9/10 it is due to the social climate an individual grows up in.
Throughout history Boxing has been dominated by Guys coming from pretty crappy Backgrounds.
Another reason for the Influx of Eastern bloc fighters in recent years is before the breakdown of the Soviet Union they were not allowed to compete in Professional sports.
A lot of Guys in america that would have been Boxers in the past are now playing Basketball & American football as well.
    Safer & better money.

I've often heard that when a black guy boxes with a white guy, you should always bet on the black guy.

Yet now I take a look at all the current titleholders from middleweight up to heavyweight, and 16 of the 20 titles are held by white guys! (I've excluded the interim title and Arslan's and Mundines secondary WBA titles in my count).

I know this is a sensitive question, but are some races really better at boxing? From what I've seen the last couple of years, I've concluded that race has absolutely nothing to do with it! It has everything to do with training, fitness, diet, courage and desire to win.
      Race doesn't exist, so no..

I was born in Eastern Europe and let me tell you, it's a violent dangerous place, the real ******s are over there. The poverty and struggle in Eastern Europe has helped produce a lot of fighters. Eastern Europeans weren't allowed to turn pro until the 1990's because of the Cold War so this is only the beginning of the domination.

Well if you want to compare sports black athletes usually dominate in basketball and football, but boxing is a different story.

Sorry for nitpicking, but the Philipines isn't nearly as tiny as you might think. There are 87 million people there making it the 12th most populated country in the world. It is much larger than countries like Puerto Rico or Cuba.

                No, absolutely not.

                Boxing is a cultural phenomenom.

And if you sudy boxing you would learn that it was the cultural circumstances that brought great fighters not race.

I once heard that black boxers get less cuts because the shape of their skull is more round in the area where there is the eyebrows. Is that true?

Other than that, our environment shapes what we are. White athletes from USSR dominated the Olympics from 50-90s because the USSR spent a lot of money to help them. Black athletes from the USA were dominant in the 90s until today, and a new era will probably begin : China also spend a lot of money to support their athletes to look good in the upcoming Olympics.

The reasons why blacks dominated boxing for so many years? The sport was popular in their culture, like football and basketball. They had so many idols in these sports, unlike hockey for example.

no, while some races may be more gifted athletically, it is really the shape of the current society which dictates which race will dominate the sport of boxing. Boxing is a sport that is easily accessible by the lower class. Which ever is the minority at the time will most likely be more prevelent in the sport.
