I know what you mean but pre 60's? That's when Cus D'Amato was training Floyd Patterson and Robinson was reigning supreme (also Joe Louis, Jersey Joe Walcott, Willy Pep and Ezzard Charles among others). Hardly unscientific. There were very few scientific fighters in the early 1900's though, Dempsey was an inventor but brawled more than he boxed.

Tunney and Jack Johnson were good boxers in that era.

      No. Heavyweight Mac Foster - 100 KO% (30 wins, 30 KO's).

Here's mr. Foster's record for proof. Vitali has the highest KO rate of world champions but he was never really much of a champion to me. A title holder but not a champion.

          Runs the gauntlet?

Runs the gauntlet= runs shamelessly from his mandatory until the WBC forces him to fight the mandatory, and then cancels 4 straight times!

Sorry, I'm not a Vitali hater but the man didn't have a very impressive career. Impressive performances, yes, but against unimpressive opposition. Can't judge him based on that.

Sanders, Williams and Johnson weren't even that bad but they were totally out of shape against Vitali.

Brittley fans like to speculate on how he "would have" done this and "could have" done this to try to gloss over his relatively weak resume.

People can yap about "fighter A would have beaten fighter B" and they are never right nor wrong, because it is unknown. If Mike Tyson had died in 1989, people would've laughed if you said Buster Douglas would have whupped him.

When it's all said and done, brittley's best wins were over a fat hasim rahman leftover who was inactive for a year and near 40, and a fat john ruiz leftover. He lost to chris byrd and lost to an undertrained lennox lewis, whom was laid out in africa the last time he undertrained for a fight.

brittley fans don't like to face facts about the relative weakness of his resume compared to other hws of the time like wlad, or even ruiz, so they talk about how he "would have/could have/should have" done this.

I see some moronic posts on both ends here. to those saying he'd get clobbered by all and to those saying he'd clobber alll. he'd have given all of them difficult fights and possibly beaten a handful of them. key word "possibly". he didnt beat any great opposition in his career but he didnt get blown out by anyone either. he had a granite chin,,good power,,,underrated skills and good upper body movement which made him difficult to hit with more than one punch at a time. no one on that list would have destroyed him. end of story

Vitali Klitschko would actually defeat most on the list! It's tragic that he never got to establish how good he really was.

Well, Quitali was the overwhelming winner of the best Vitali nickname poll, but I just go by whatever I feel like at the moment.

I'm probably forgetting some names, feel free to add more.
Only one he'd have had a chance of beating is Mike Tyson. In his prime, I'm not so sure.

Oh, I think that he could possibly have overwhelmed Holyfield as well, simply given his size (even though Holy has fought many big men, he lost to most of them)..
