Yeah what was Billy Graham thinking? He should have been saying that Floyd would win, then he would have been right! He should have said that Ricky will walk onto punches after the first six rounds and then get knocked out and then he wouldn't have anything to be ashamed of because his predictions would have been correct!

Warren keeps on at Ricky in his ****ty column, and he always directs a few to Graham as well. I think Graham was frustrated by the refereeing as much as Ricky was.

Yeah but even during the fight Graham was talking smack.

      "Your a point behind ricky"
"Your fighting with your face ricky"

During 'traning' all he does in stand in the ring with a body bag taking shots from hatton which are so wide, you'd need a widescreen tv to see them.

Hatton V Mayweather: Ricky looks for best imitation

          « Previous « PreviousNext » Next »
View GalleryBeing asked to fight like Floyd Mayweather would be a daunting task for almost any fighter in boxing history, let alone an 11-fight professional novice with no title fights yet to his name.

But for 26-year-old Rock Allen, the chance to dance around the ring like the 'Pretty Boy' was too good an opportunity to turn down when Ricky Hatton came calling with a trans-Atlantic flight ticket in his hand.

The ambitious Philadelphian headed straight to the BettaBodies gym in Denton to assume the role of Hatton's chief sparring partner for the biggest fight of his career, and to fulfil one role: fight like Floyd.

Allen said: "I got in there and tried to imitate Floyd as much as possible. It was a tough thing to do, because Floyd's such a great fighter. But I moved a lot and helped Ricky adapt to that kind of style."
Allen, a 2002 Golden Gloves light-welterweight champion and member of the 2004 Olympic team, is the son of Bernard Hopkins' trainer ****m Richardson and currently boasts and unbeaten 12-0 record.
Having gone dozens of rounds with the Hatton, Allen insists it is more than just mere loyalty which has persuaded him the underdog has a fantastic opportunity to inflict Mayweather's first defeat.

"Ricky's a tough fighter who you can hit but you can't hurt and whose pace seems to increase as the rounds go on," he said.

"Most fighters start to slacken off the second half of their fights but Ricky gets quicker.
"That's bad news for Floyd. I just don't think he has the same kind of endurance. He often takes breaks in his fights and uses his legs to stay away from the action and he can't do that against Hatton.
"Ricky is very explosive and he'll be in Mayweather's face for the full 12 rounds. I think it's going to be a very interesting fight, and I honestly believe Ricky's endurance can see him through."
But Canadian Tony Pep - one of only two men along with Jose Luis Castillo to have fought both Mayweather and Hatton professionally - insists the American's class will tell.
Pep went the distance with Mayweather in 1998 and subsequently served as his chief sparring partner. Three years later he cut Hatton but was stopped in the fourth round at Wembley.
"Hatton has to stick to Mayweather like glue and even then I don't think he can put on enough pressure to win on points. If he has a chance, it is a puncher's chance," he said.
"Ricky's a very tough fighter who can hurt you to the body. But in Mayweather you've got one of the all-time greats.
"He's seen off everyone he's fought in style and he's got to be a big favourite."

            Nah, Pig.

But you need to have a realistic view of what your advantages are. I have seen Floyd in person ONCE and that was years ago. Graham spent a week with Floyd a couple of months ago. If DD knew that Floyd would be stronger, how could Graham not??

I don't think Roger would tell Floyd to get into a jabbing contest with Paul Williams. You play to your fighter's physical and stylistic advantages. All some people are doing is illustrating how Graham misled Ricky.

I loved Shane's impression of Tito. SSM had that side-to-side rocking action that Tito does nailed!

I think that Floyd would win a jabbing contest with Williams. But he would be ill-advised to get into a long distance spazzy flurry contest.

good post, graham like most trainers is way overated, i cant remember hearing him depart with any sound tactical advice between rounds, a bit like floyd sr, all he used to tell de la hoya was 'walk him down son, walk him down' wtf?? what are these guys being payed huge sums of money for? they should be reading the fight and giving their fighter specific instructions
