FUMING GRAHAM BLASTS BACK AT WARREN
Trainer Billy Graham has hit back furiously after Frank Warren said Ricky Hatton should ditch him.
Promoter Warren launched a scathing attack on Graham after Hatton suffered the first defeat of his professional career at the hands of Floyd Mayweather Jr last month.
Warren described Hatton's tactics in Las Vegas as "awful", questioned the trainer's input and claimed: "Graham is one of those guys who take the credit for the wins but not the responsibility for the losses. Hatton should ditch him."
But Graham, who has guided Hatton to 43 wins as well as that Las Vegas defeat, says Warren has been a "jilted lover" since splitting with Hatton back in 2005.
He told the Sunday Mirror: "Of course I have an input. Ricky is a natural light-welterweight but he and I both insisted his father Ray, who is his manager, make the fight with Mayweather.
"Yes, we got well paid for it, but the real motivation was the chance to make history. I always accept responsibility if my fighter loses because I am the man in charge.
"What Frank knows about tactics could be written on a postage stamp.
He is a boxing promoter. I've lived with boxers day in, day out for years and, if I say it myself, my record isn't bad."
After Hatton's defeat by the 'Pretty Boy' last month, there were rumours he might not be training the Hitman any more.
But Graham said: "I don't know where the rumours about Ricky ditching me came from and he is adamant they are nonsense, but he did ditch Frank Warren.
"Although I wasn't instrumental in that, I told Ricky years ago to get rid of him because in my opinion he would have become a superstar in America a lot sooner than he did.
"Credit to Frank, he did pull off the Kostya Tszyu fight and definitely played a part in Ricky's career. But with Dennis Hobson and Golden Boy I've made enough money to set me up for life
and Ricky, obviously, has made a lot more.
"Now Frank sounds like a jilted lover. He just slags people off in his column and can't take any criticism in return. It's a bully-boy tactic but in reality he's a wimp.
"It's common knowledge that Frank and I detest each other, but I don't keep putting it in print as he does."
