Byron Mitchell had just lost a split decision against Sven Ottke in Germany 3 months earlier before the Calzaghe fight for the WBA/IBF titles. We all know how many gift decisions Sven Ottke had been given in his career.

An absolutely superb fight and that should have been the unification fight Kessler was. Ottke ****ed up the SMW division for years and it's only now getting over it.

And anyone who complains about that stoppage is ******ed. I'm all for giving fighters every chance, especially in title fights, but 20 unanswered heavy bombs is a little excessive.

Glass Joe only beat Ottke's left-overs. Hail the great undefeated champion. A modern-day Rocky Marciano.

I actually despise Ottke. I wish I didn't but I just can't help it, he got so many screwed up, horribly corrupt dodgy hometown decisions that were so blatantly obvious he lost I feel disgusted by him and boxing in general in Germany. I don't think anywhere in the world are there more terrible robberies than there. Undefeated my ass! He has about twenty losses!

In fact I believe he is one of the most overrated hack champions I've ever witnessed and his pathetic excuse for boxing should have been shut down with his first loss...which unfortunately never did occur...even though he lost many decisions...if you know what I mean? I can't believe some people actually rate him highly or as some kind of defensive boxing wizz!?

It's a shame Calzaghe wasn't the draw he is now, he could have probably offered enough money to Ottke to beat the **** out of him in Wales.

Ottke is crap, and a serious black mark against Boxing. I mean he lost comfortably to Reid,Mitchell, and Charles Brewer, he also lost to Mads Larsen and im assuming probably about 10 more.

Its just a ****ing shame Lacy didn't come around earlier or another American with hype, this **** went completely unnoticed.

If Dave Paris was refereeing Taylor/Pavlik 1, Taylor would've won by 2nd round TKO.
