I was never that big of a Tarver fan but he accomplished a lot in the sport and doesn’t have anything to be ashamed of. He had a very good career, highlighted by his battles with Roy Jones Jr. I just don’t think he was a great fighter. But there is nothing wrong with that because he did a lot more in the sport than many other boxers only wished they could have achieved.

Tarver is possibly underrated because he so grossly overrates himself. Yes he is a top 10 LHW today, but not of all-time. Not even close. Tarver isn't hated, at least not as much as the thread creator loves him, it's a little disturbing to say the least. Tarver's excuse for losing to Hopkins is utterly pathetic and a joke, so is his claim that he is the man at 175 and that is IBO belt is a real title. Tarver has skills, but he hasn't overcome more than other fighters and a warrior, please. Someone who fights for our freedom is a warrior, a boxing warrior is someone who fights nuts and guts, and lets count all the GREAT fights Tarver was in........0. He is a good fighter, end of story.

When he was beat by Eric Harding, he moved on and won some more fights. He was put into a postion to go on and fight for a world title. But Tarver said no, he said he would not be a true champion unless he beat Harding first. And he went back and avanged his loss with a brutal TKO. He's a 4 time world champ and has always fought the best. He is no dought a top 10 LHW.

for people who sit and only critize Tarver here is a few question for you?

How many people do you see off on crack?
How many people became World Champion?
How many people tested Roy Jones chin before that?

well people said lucky shot, well it alot of training to get power.

Tarver also avenged his loses and people who dont know **** about Tarver fighting style cant judge him. at Hopkins fight he wasnt fighting like he normally fight.

It need alot of guts to do what Tarver did with so many mishap that happen to him. I respect him even though he is ****y as hell but gotta respect him. Because it easy to talk **** for you guy and you never even hold an amatar title belt

LOL! So fishing is worse than being hit in the head and suffering brain damage? What do you hear more, fighters dying from boxing or somenone dying while fishing? There is your anwser

Tarver deserves respect but mostly doesn't get it because he KO'd everyones favorite and he isn't the most exciting fighter around.

I think he should retire now because for over a year now he has said that he can see the openings but can't take advantage of them. He is fighting past his prime, his reflexes aren't there and with his counter punching style he needs those reflexes.
