Why's there always a "catch" to Hopkins' best wins?

Well one thing you won't see is Hopkins getting tagged so easily by Joe like Kessler was.

Another thing I'll see is Hopkins posing much less of a threat inside the ring.

This is a very understated problem. I watched without sound and it looked pretty damn even to me. Hopkins was horrendous in that fight. he really should have retired after, and whoever beats him now is just putting the icing on the cake.

Calzaghe isn't in his prime, he's been a damaged fighter ever since the Reid fight because of his hands.

He'll pose more of a threat to win. Only thing Kessler posed was power shots. No one thought he could win a decision. Joe better dominate Hopkins he's old as ****. If he struggles with him or even loses well.......

Actually quite a few thought Kessler would win a decision, and Hopkins isn't going to be as easy as say, Jeff Lacy was.

He may be 43 but he's still got it in the tank, Joe will win though, there's no doubt about that.

Of course you can pick apart anyone's record, but Hop's resume is questionable. The Tarver and Trinidad wins are clearly the really good ones. Forget Oscar, and the Winky fight was unimpressive all around.

He takes a back seat to:

                    1. Jones
                    2. Calzaghe
                    3. Toney

Those are the real greats in his weight range and generation. Hop does not belong among them.
I agree, Whenever Hopkins came up against Top opposition that same size that he was he lost. Tarver was a good win and Hopkins would give most great middleweights a good fight around his prime but Toney, Jones and Calzaghe are the greats in this era from 160-175 although we do have other boderline greats.

Benn, Eubank, Collins, Watson, and the G-man could've been a great if he career wasn't cut short. Dawson would very well join the position of greats but i think he is the next era of fighter and it's too early to tell.

If Trinidad beats fighters at a higher weight it could really water down the argument that Hopkins was too big for Tito.
                      No way.
Tito is fighting a shot version of Jones for starters.
And like most people Tito will have matured into a bigger guy as he ages.
Same way Floyd is fighting at 147 now.
At the time of Hopkins Tito , Tito had only just moved up in weight and didn't really have any elite wins at MW.
